Why did he ditch the cowboy hat?

Does anyone have a future schedule update for Sacramento State for the 2026-2027 season? I'm curious what their schedule would look like after transitioning to FBS.

He didn't completely ditch the cowboy hat. He just didn't have it on all of the time. I saw him with a light colored one when they showed him on the sidelines at one point.

He wore the cowboy hat the beginning of the game and took it off in middle of 2nd qr about the time they started to improve. Maybe the hat is bad luck.

theres a thread on the Sac board with speculation/wishes based on who might have open dates. @Kadeezy suggested closing the season at Alabama.

There are a lot of things working against them to get a full schedule together for 2026 and beyond. It will be interesting to watch at least.

how close is too close for a workplace photo? Just saying, can’t see both hands on either one of them.

Senator Ashby should use a spell checker before she makes a public post on social media also.

Marion mentioned sideline issues during the Mercyhurst game….with some guys b*tching and complaining. He’s “moved on” from some players (not sure of this is temporary or permanent).
I thought Rashida got concussed at Nevada and that’s why he was out last week (?) But it’s sounding like he’s been benched in favor of Williams, who’s looked good.

This stuff isn't shocking. Bringing in 70+ guys all at once (a lot of them 2nd and 3rd chance guys) from all over the country based on only short conversations and review of highlights is a risky endeavor.

I’m not trying to attack sac at all, but they have had 12-14k at both home games this year, I legit don’t see why they would build a 40k person stadium. Especially if they build the stadium at cal expo, it’s not like the hype is overflowing the on campus facility.

If they get 12-14 for every game that’s not bad. The highlights i saw last night though looked like an empty stadium.

It seems like they usually have a good size crowd on one side of the field and pretty empty on the other side.

With Cal Poly in town, the away side will probably have at least a few thousand this weekend. The home side and VIP areas, and enzone stands should be close to full.

I would expect 15k+... And that's students, alums, the band, mostly jammed into one side of bleachers, ugh.

They should fill the east side with students only. Challenge them to fill it.

It's hot over there, less amenities, etc. Would be nice to have a covered bowl or horseshoe. CalExpo awaits, I guess....

Didn't the President also talk big developments regarding a new stadium?

Bidding process is moving for Cal Expo stadium. Based on document posted, about 5000 seats from the grandstand can be reused and an additional 17,000 “modular” seats are specified in addition to “modular” locker rooms, press box, and artificial turf. Estimated cost $171m. Design-build, no architect yet. Unknown where the money is coming from.

Unrelated or not, Wood’s brother and his multiple fake companies are now pushing a 7500 seat arena in Rancho Cordova for an indoor women’s soccer franchise. No funding source identified but mild speculation it could also be a place for Sac State basketball to end up.

What am I missing here, $171M and move 4 miles off campus. What have they gained, closer to the field w no track?

Why not rebuild the current stadium in sections?

nothing on this whole endeavor has really been meant to make sense.

will there will stands on both sides? must be if they are shooting for 22000.

what i can't figure is what's the expected life span of this? sounds like a temporary set-up -> i can't imagine the FBS will see this as a viable long term stadium. so, 170M and then a whole bunch more 5 years from now for a real stadium?

If you were building a house, you’d use the design-bid-build process where you hire an architect to design what you want and then find the best/cheapest builder to execute. That’s not what they’re doing here.

They are using the design-build process where one contract manages design and construction simultaneously. Right now they are soliciting a request for qualifications, which basically asks interested contractors to submit a portfolio proving they have the experience needed. At this point they have requirements- how many seats and lockers they want. Maybe some napkin sketches, but not a design. The university is estimating $171m. Ultimately the design-builders aren’t just competing on who can pour concrete for less, they are also competing on who can come up with the most efficient design concept that fulfills the basic requirements. The state posting specifically says no design competition so no points for beauty. Once the low bidder contractor is selected, the university and contractor will jointly bid for an architect of record to actually draw the contractor’s concept.

Sometimes you hit pay dirt on this with a contractor that has done similar projects, and through lessons learned proposes a really efficient great concept. Other times it’s just as bad as it sounds, a low bidder hiring a low bidder and you get something really ugly.

I still don't see the benefit in moving off campus, it sounds like a lateral move at best.

So, a "temporary" stadium off-campus to replace their "temporary" stadium on campus?

At least they owned the stadium and land at Hornet Stadium. This is perplexing.
When they get booted from the Cal Expo lease, at least they can come back to Hornet Stadium and renovate it.

This stinks of a Wood / Marion resume builder: "got a new stadium built in record time" even though it might not be in the best interest of Sac State University. None of this has been.....

Wood knows he needs a win soon. I’ve heard faltering support among students and faculty. The politicians like him for now but his loose lips will be a liability come election season. The more I watch this, it’s like Sac State and Cal Expo got drunk on Hennessy one night, hooked up in a port-a-potty on the American River Trail and now are rushing a marriage before the bump starts to show.

Marion gers a better offer, gets gone. And now he's proven he can recruit from the portal.

This smells like Woods' brother will be part of the design / build team.
