So that's 8 transfers signed in the last couple days?
Psyk was 1st Team All Ivy League last season. DE Impact rush type player.
Interesting we list Rutchena as LB, he's listed as TE on Cal's current roster.
Riddick is an Elk Grove kid, went to Sac City - was basically SEMO's starting safety last season, 87 tackles.
Josiah Allen also Elk Grover kid, went to Sac City - played in all 12 games for UTEP last season, had some impact plays in the backfield as well.
Porter, graduate transfer, 34 tackles last season, no sacks, listed as 6'-1", 280 lbs.
Batson recorded minimal statistics in 2024, had a significant injury in 2023 that he came back from. He will get every opportunity to be an impact player in Davis. Originally from San Clemente. Looks like we get his RS Senior season. Listed as 6'-4" and 206 lbs.
3 ?
Maybe but depends who you count. Last year we had a linebacker and DB from Cal, and OL from San Diego State, a punter from Cincinnati, a DB from Iowa,, a wide receiver from Boise.
Impressive that they could fill needs so well. In his interview Plough explained they realized they needed to get Defensive Linemen and DBs and they did. Their approach seems to be as Plough described to put the main recruiting effort on high school, but fill out the roster with transfers, so they aren’t dependent on freshmen.
Important to note the drop down guys were all on scholarship and have starting experience. Very different than guys moving down a level from a walk-on roll. Rutchena switched to TE since Cal was thin there but will be back to LB in Davis.
If this is true, this is a very interesting commitment. He was committed to Eck at Idaho and then dropped once Eck took the UNM job. Eck offered him at UNM and it looks like he may have decided to go Davis instead. He's also a very talented DB.
A PWO in college football stands for "Preferred Walk-On". It's an offer from a college to a talented athlete to join the team as a walk-on, without a scholarship.
What does a PWO offer include?
A guaranteed spot on the team roster
A chance to compete at a higher level
A chance to earn a scholarship in the future
How does a PWO offer compare to a traditional walk-on offer?
A PWO offer is more defined than a traditional walk-on offer, which requires a tryout
PWOs are often recruited by coaches
PWOs have a better chance of earning a scholarship than traditional walk-ons
What happens to PWOs after receiving an offer?
PWOs are usually first in line for scholarships when they become available
PWOs can be cut during try-outs or team camp if they don't meet coach expectations
2nd signing period starts on 2/5 so the staff has just a couple more days to wrap up this class. I know that they have been out recruiting the 2026 class lately.
Looks like this is the best recruiting class ever, based on quantity, ratings and competitive offers. Anyone have an opinion that it is not? The only apparent need that isn’t addressed is offensive line.
ATH Brayden Rosa commits to the Ags! Seems to be a pretty under the radar kid, but had great numbers last season... Defense: 127 tackles, 3 INTs, 5 forced fumbles... Offense: 2,380 all purpose yards, 32 TD’s
