really really curious when we/if we start a reno on the pavilion soon. Its looking ROUGH on the outside.

How so?

The Pavilion certainly isn't a thing of beauty on the outside but I don't think enhancing the exterior would one of the first priorities for renovations. The inside is looking worn in places and could use some painting to freshen it up. Big improvements are needed for concessions and the restrooms could use some upgrading including privacy partitions between the urinals in the men's restrooms. All major sports arenas have much better restroom facilities. I'd like to see a merch area too.

The big Daktronics video screen is nice but I wish we had a 4 sided scoreboard that hung down from above over the center of the court. If it had video too that would be awesome. I think that having a centrally located scoreboard and clock like that would improve the fan experience.

Overall, I think the arena is pretty good as is but it is getting worn. However, since the Aggies have made a commitment to increase levels of financing in the MWC for men's basketball, I do think that we'll have to put a significant amount of money into the program including NIL funds in order to compete well. Playing against MWC opponents plus improvements to the Pavilion should help build a good fan base and increase ticket sale revenues.

there was a ‘merc area’ yesterday on the court level next to the band never advertised and not very visible. I was only aware cuz my grandsons have a radar for souvenirs. No kid sizes for shorts which is disappointing.

Agree with the above mentioned upgrades, especially concessions. It would be nice to block off the open spaces upstairs (curtain, accordion wall) to make it feel more intimate. Might make it louder.

I’d also wish they could improve the car traffic in and out of the arena. That light cycles through, I believe, 5 lights (including bike crossing), so you can get stuck there for awhile trying to turn in. Leaving is similar - can’t they go to flashing lights and traffic cops for 15 minutes post game? A Pavillion specific entrance would be ideal but I can’t imagine how that could work.

I haven’t seen what other MWC arenas look like (beside SJSU which is not great), so not sure where the bar is set.

Campus Rec and Facilities have really butchered the place and ICA doesn’t have the leadership to take them to task. They have had multiple chances to get the seating right since the days of the wood bleachers but can’t get out of their own way. The building itself makes for a perfectly fine 6,500 seat venue if they would just put in the telescoping seats and a central score and video board. The lower level seating is way too far from the action and the wine and merch station is an atmosphere killer. Of course, fixing the joint would mean getting rid of that horrible overhead dividing net and that may be a bridge too far.

SJSU is far and away the worst venue in the conference. The rest are 8-12k except Vegas and New Mexico.

Luke wood going on twitter and tweeting about literally nothing but “sac state would be UCLA” and basically acting like they are already set to be a power 5 team is so confusing… I guess confidence is good but at a certain point it just seems over the top

the same UCLA that has played football on the national stage for 100 years, and whose football and basketball teams play in two of the most iconic facilities in college athletes?

I mentioned that earlier in the thread. Marion has never spent more than 2 seasons in any given position. If he is wildly successful at Sac State, he's not leading them to the FBS... he's going to take a job at an established FBS program.

We've had the best experiences and some bad experiences with HC's. In our recent bad experience.....With Gould everything looked good coming in (great recruiter, attitude, energy, resume), but it never translated into W's.

One thing Marion has that Gould didn't was the immediate impact the portal can make.
Like I said previously, Marion has a tall task getting all these guys settled in, on the same page, and doing what they are supposed to do on and off the field in a super short amount of time. This would be a masterclass in motivation and leadership.
