One tiny concern was the defense's inability to contain the quarterbacks who scrambled 14 times for 57 yards. A couple of those set up long drives for the Redbirds.
Very happy with the offense. Defense will need to pick it up next week. On another day, we give up a lot more than 10 points. Was good to see South Dakota struggle a bit.
The NCAA production really sucks the personality out of the game. No on-field contests with Darius, no dance troupe, generic scoreboard graphics, no student section contests with Darius, no Davis-related announcements/presentations during the long timeouts- they didn’t even let Darius on the mic for the kid’s halftime run!
I thought this was Hastings best game as an Aggie. On the mark for the longer passes. Hope we can keep up the good play next week and then get another crack at Montana St.
Was traveling during the first half. Had to watch the second half on my cell phone. Looking forward to watching the entire game tomorrow. On that punt fake, it looked like the ball never past the first down marker. Great win.
Yes, I think the Aggie offense struggled at time as CJ slowly recovered from his injury. With him back at full strength we can see what a difference he makes going back to the Sac State game.
Yes. That was how I got to South Dakota from Sacramento back in '59. To be clear I wasn't driving yet. Still remember seeing Mt. Rushmore. (Wouldn't that be a great name for a D-line?)

We were looking practically right down the first down line from our seats and it looked like the ball was a good yard short. Everyone around us was shocked when the line judge signaled first down. He made a judgement call from a poor perspective behind where the ball carrier was tackled. I guess there wasn't a good enough camera angle to overturn the call from the replay.
That’s exactly right. The camera angle was terrible so once they called a first down it was difficult to overturn despite being pretty obviously short.
It's so hard being 40 years old and under in the Alumni section... Cheers to you all who tried to make home field advantage mean something. I think think we need to have Aggie Sports Talk stickers/badges so we can identify each other//the loud ones.
I wish for an expansion of the stadium so that the alumni section can be drowned out by people who want to actually make noise and provide some semblance of home field advantage.
It seemed to me that more players participated, on both offense and defense, and even early in the game. Unfortunately the game stats for participation are visibly messed up but it lists 62 players as playing, that would be virtually everyone who dressed.
And only one starter but the team was starting to use depth at DL by bringing in some pass rushers, Carrillo being among the best at that among the D Linemen.
They did that all last year, but not early this year.
I believe Carrillo like @Riveraggie said. He is a defensive lineman and doesn’t start. So down 1 O-line starter and 1 D-line reserve. All teams have injuries at this time of year and the ones with more quality depth weather the storms unless the numbers get ridiculous.
