The Aggies head to Santa Clara on Sunday for a 2 pm game with the Broncos. The Ags are coming off an excellent outing where they beat Sacramento State 76-45.
Norris had two fouls in the first quarter, and I remembered someone here said the coach pulls out anyone with two fouls until the second half. When she was out in the middle of the first quarter, Santa Clara started pulling out ahead.
What an amazing game and a great win by the Ags. No quit in this team.
Excellent performance by Norris who really came alive in the 2nd half. Being able to shoot from the outside helped to open up the middle.
Once again the way the officials chose to call a game has a dramatic effect. We've seen "anything goes" games and "how dare you touch that player" games. I think we do better in the former. And who likes a free throw contest or lots of players in foul trouble. The gradual constricting of what was permissible in the 2nd half was to our advantage. When players can be routinely hammered in the lane there's a forcing of the game to the periphery. Fine if you're hitting 3's but not so great if you're not.
The quality and the consistency of officiating is vital for basketball to fair.
Also - and a totally different thing - I'd love to see colleges play the 3 on 3 game from the Olympics. That was fabulous to watch.
