Yep. Can't blame 'em. Start beating them more consistently and that changes.

Seems like the Big Sky is Montana's NFL.

Pretty much; no FBS schools and you have to go 2 states away to find a pro team of any type. So this is all we got.

+/- 680 mile road trip from Bozeman to see the Broncos or Seahawks play. For convenience, I’d recommend Calgary, a pleasant 500 mile drive to see Jake Maier. Just sayin….

    Go Ags!

Was in Calgary a few years ago (2021) for work and went to a game there, not sure if Jake was on the team then, Bo Levi was the QB, Cant remember now but the QB from the other team was FCS too. Lot of FCS and Big Sky players in the CFL.

Jake started 3 games in 2021, 9 in 2022 and has started ever since.
It is cool to see a lot of familiar names in the CFL.

Bob Dunning takes the Ags by 4:

AGGIES over MONTANA STATE ... The Donnybrook in Davis. The Aggie Avalanche. The Bobcat Bash. Call it what you want, this one potentially has it all. The Game of the Century in our own backyard? Seemingly so. Take the Ags by 4.

When do General Admission tickets go on sale. Saturday? Will those go for $20, $25?

They've been on sale. I think the end zones are sold out now...

Unfortunately, I can't go, but I have friends going who haven't been to a game in almost 10 years. There's a buzz around the program, that's for sure!

I wish I shared Dunning's optimism. Of course, I didn't think we would beat Montana either, though part of that was the game was on the road. By the ratings and results, Montana St is a big step up from Montana. The only common opponent result where we won by more was Northern Colorado. They beat Utah Tech, Idaho, Portland St and Eastern Washington by more than we did. That's not to say we can't win by any means. We're going to have to play great. If our defense shows up like last week, we've got a legit shot to win.

Bought my tickets last night so my daughter and I will be in attendance. Looking forward to it. Beating Montana on the road and a good Idaho team has given this team a sense of legitimacy that the 2018 team didn't totally have.

Fanduel has us as 7.5 underdogs. Had us 6.5 underdogs last week!

Apparently some 1500 tickets sold to Montana st folks. To combat that, we have 3 player parents (thompkins, Dixon, Larison) who purchased 1500 cowbells!

Can’t be too pessimistic about a game with a touchdown point spread.
All the common opponents you cite except Portland Davis allowed late scores after having the game in hand. There is a improvement trend in Davis, both offense and defense. On defense they have got guys back form injury, both starters and reserves that generate some pass rush.

We're definitely trending in the right direction. No chance are we only a TD underdog in this game if it was played the week after the Portland St game. Anything can obviously happen but I don't think we get blown out either.

Hopefully it's a fun game and we can at least keep it close. Would be pretty deflating if this game is built up as some huge thing for the program and then we lose by 28.

i think having a fully healthy defense allows Plough to be a bit more creative in his offensive play calling. earlier in the year, when we were VERY thin, especially on the road, i think he had to be more conservative to drain clock and try to keep the defense off the field.

Looking through the seating chart it looks like about 300 tickets remain, mostly 109, 118, 119 at the $30-$50 price-point.

One area on defense that gets little attention is the cornerbacks. In the Eastern Washington game we had to move a safety to start at corner
After watching the Montana game, Mike Rider who previously coached cornerbacks at Montana State, was very impressed with the Davis cornerbacks, both from a coverage standpoint and willingness and ability to tackle
The last two games the cornerback starters are Verner and McWilliams, Those two guys were initially at Boise and Cal respectively and from high school were the level if recruit we don’t have a shot in getting. Cotton, a starter until an injury caused him to miss the Eastern Washington game is back as well. So that is an example of where Davis is improved and deeper than just a few weeks ago,

An overflow crowd with excited but nearly silent fans is the weirdest experience. Expecting huge noise on opening-drive defense and hearing nothing is wild. The Idaho game was almost like the silent treatment...maybe it was equally as distracting to the opposing team :D

Hopefully this is different for tomorrow's game, and it might be given the promotion and high stakes! Like I said earlier this year in the "Attendance" thread, a knowledgeable student needs to grab the mic and help these kids who aren't football fans. UC Davis Health Stadium has HUGE potential. The students need to understand they can impact the outcome of the game, and that the rest of the stadium follows the students' lead!

On the plus side, the Aggies have shown they can win a big game at home in relative silence (Idaho).

I am cautiously optimistic about this game. My optimism stems from the stout Aggie defense that I think is really solidifying. Solid tackling is necessary, and we have some stellar tacklers - my favorites may be Bains and Rex. As Plough said, make them earn everything. Turnovers, as always, will be a big factor.

I have seen Mellott get to the edge several times this season. He has deceptive speed, and I think is running more to the edge this year so he can step out of bounds and avoid big hits. If the Ags can slow the run and make him pass, especially if he has to go through progressions, I think that will be something he hasn’t had to do much this year. Stopping the big runs and keeping Mellott contained in the pocket when passing are, I think, going to be crucial.

The Ags were the more physical team against Montana. Being that team again would be great.

The game will be broadcast locally. I see a major upgrade in TV production is parked at the field, hopefully with better cameras. The crew were busy plugging into the distribution infrastructure from the truck as I rode by this morning. It'll be on The CW? I found it on our TiVo. And streamed on ESPN+ of course.
