Ags defeated Sac in baseball tonight, 3-2, to sweep the season baseball series (!!).

This concludes the Causeway Cup competition for this academic year.

I have the final score as UCD 57.51, CSUS 32.5 if you don’t count the odd fall women’s golf competition and UCD 59.18, CSUS 30.84 if you do.

Even if the Causeway Cup doesn't officially exist anymore, I'll chalk this up as yet another Aggie win over the Hornets!

still listed on department website. It shows 59.18-30.84. Really would have been lopsided without the men’s basketball brain fart

-Sac was dominant in women's golf (at least in the winter and spring), softball and both men's and women's track & field. Men's basketball and men's soccer were upsets. Sac finished in last place in regular season conference standings for both sports.

when we lost in basketball and finished preseason with a couple other clunkers, I was really worried about the team. Boy, did they turn things around

Les and his staff did a remarkable job of getting this team back on track. It really was a bummer that they missed out on goin to the NCAA by just a couple of points though. So many seniors and Pepper coming back in order help win a championship for Les...it's rare to see that kind of dedication and loyalty to a program anymore.

"We take great pride in securing the Aggies' 10th consecutive Causeway Cup win over Sacramento State," shares Director of Athletics Rocko DeLuca, "In our ever-changing landscape of college athletics, the one thing that remains consistent, is that rivalries elevate the athletic experience for fans and our student-athletes. We look forward to the continued growth of local interest when the Aggies and Hornets meet in competition. Congratulations to our coaches and student-athletes for continuing our decade of dominance over the team in green…Stingers Down!"

What was Gould's top achievements as interim AD?

Long long shot: would UCSB and UCSD add football? It might help male enrollment, but complicate gender equity.

This just in: NCAA settles player’s lawsuit regarding pay for play. $2.8 billion! So now the question is who is paying for this? And it turns out, incredibly, that the smaller leagues will be paying almost a third of the settlement (990 million dollars) and they were not even named in the lawsuit! This development is way too complicated to even consider summarizing it here. It it appears to be very flawed and poorly thought out. Will a soccer player be paid the same as a star quarterback? Will women’s sports be paid the same? How does Title IX fit in? Are players now employees? Congress has to step in here and try to straighten things out if it is even remotely possible.

I know we come here to get away from politics, but I can only imagine how that mey play into this.

(Not sure what this has to do with The Causeway Cup. Perhaps a new thread would be appropriate.)

Didn’t know where to put it. Judge still has to approve the settlement. Claudia Wilkin is a very smart judge and she may see thru this terrible result. I know, big 10, sec, etc can handle this BW, BS, not so much. We will see a lot in tomorrow’s news
