Curious how many of us are planning on going up to Corvallis. I know CAAA/Team Aggie will have events, my Dad's cousin was an All-American at OSU so he may be tied into something neat as well.
I believe we’ve been there. About 10 years ago, I umpired the Little League Senior division western regional in Salem. We took a road trip on one of the off days.
And I’ll use my United points to fly - 8 hours of driving is too much on this body .
Edit: wrong place. We hit Chinook Winds in Lincoln City. Also ate at this gem
Sambo's is good (though I think it was permanently closed post-COVID...and for other reasons) if you get out to Depoe Bay - go with Restaurant Beck at Whale Cove Inn. Best food I've had on the Oregon Coast - a little bit fancy there, views are tremendous. Local Ocean Seafoods in Newport is really good as well.
It is noteworthy that it's only a short 1 hr. ride on Hwy 20 due west to get to Newport and the Oregon Coast from Corvallis, it's very pretty there in September.
We're staying in Depoe Bay for 5 days in late April. We'll definitely try the Restaurant Beck. Thanks for the tip!
We have family in Newport so my wife and I may make the trip to Corvallis. Of course, our family in Newport are all OSU grads so we have to be careful!
CAA will be hosting a tailgate in Corvalis before the game. BTW, SWA does fly into Eugene but from SMF they send you to Vegas, then Eugene. I checked Oakland as a departure and its the same deal.
If you look at the NCAA reporting site-- Here is the link https://ope.ed.gov/athletics/#/ the report will show the football revenue at $5,852,399. So this is where the game fee goes.
However in my opinion UCD does some wonky stuff. Their is a line that shows the following,
Total Revenues Men's and Women's Teams $11,773,263 $11,875,655. I asked a person smarter than I how this could be and they said that the department takes the money generated from the student referendums as income revenue. Not my idea of true revenue but I do not know the ends and outs of accounting. Seems strange to me that student taxes are listed as revenue, but I was told where else the fees would be placed.
It's like saying tax dollars are revenue, rather than acknowledging what they really are, a distraction of your attention to the actual value created from the product you put on the field/court in ticket and merchandise sales.
“ Do we pick up tickets at the entry point?”
Usually they offer a ticket deal ahead of time that combines a game ticket and the tailgate. I awesome your pop and uncle will be there? Always fun to visit with them. Maybe your dad will get us into some big fish, wink.
It's nice to take a break and play teams outside the region. I bet it's a lot cheaper to play Cal/Stan/SJSU/Fresno, and Nevada but nearby isn't too bad. Will they fly to Eugene/PDX or will they bus? Oregon State looks to be good.
Just looked at it, thanks. They recommend getting hotel reservations early. The hilton next to campus is already booked.
For the tailgate, $93 for All CAAA, LGS, and Team Aggie Members & Season Ticket holders which includes a game ticket.
