The Ags got their first ever postseason D1 win over PAC-12 Utah in the first round of the WNIT and now they travel to Fort Collins to play the Colorado State Rams on Sunday at 1 pm PDT. The Rams advanced to the second round by virtue of their OT win over St. Mary's at home 80-68. The Aggies beat the Gaels in the Pavilion on December 12th 68-66. Looking at other common opponents the Aggies beat San Diego State 75-55 and CSU took down the Aztecs twice 60-43 and 80-46.

The Rams have a truly international roster that features 5 players from Sweden, one from Norway, one from Latvia and one from Denmark. They are not particularly tall but they are quick and play tenacious defense. Their defense is ranked 5th in the country and have limited their opponents to only 53.5 ppg. They are led by two time Mountain West MVP Ellen Nystrom a 6'1 guard from Sweden and they are particularly tough to beat at home where they are 17-1 this year.

The Aggies bounced back beautifully from their very disappointing loss to UCSB in the Big West Tournament. They came out hot in the game with Utah and played solid basketball for the majority of the game. Utah was able to get within one point in the third quarter when they started pressing and trapping the Aggies. I expect that the Rams will use their talented defense to do the same and the Ags will need to take care of the ball and control the tempo of the game.

If the Aggies play at the top of their game, they can beat the Rams and move on to the 3rd round of the WNIT.

Nagel goes down with an injury after crashing into the bench trying to save a pass from going out of bounds... that's not good.

CSU is doubling Bertsch on every touch and it's been effective so far.

Double? They were just triple teaming her. We're gonna have to find some points inside though. We can't rely on shooting the 3 ball all day.

    CSU up 22-16 now.

The Ags are getting outplayed right now. They are losing the battle of defensive intensity and are not taking care of the ball. They look flustered.

And the few open chances we're getting inside we're missing. Gotta clean up the little things.

Down by 8, the only thing we have going for us is that CSU is starting to rack up fouls

Aggies down 6 at half, 26-32. Have to find a way to get something going inside.

The Ags need to make some serious adjustments at halftime. The Rams defense has got the Ags completely out sync on offense and the Aggies are not playing with enough defensive intensity. CSU is playing Bertsch very physical and double/triple teaming her every time she touches the ball.

Two bogus fouls in the final minute on Bertsch by the same ref saddled her with 3 fouls. The first was a horrible call on Morgan for an offensive foul on a jab step. Morgan protested and the same ref gave her another foul moments later when there was barely any contact, if any at all, on the defensive end. Looked like pay back from the thin skinned ref.

Yeah I didn't want to be the one to say it, but I think Morgan made an enemy there. Especially the defensive foul called on her was criminal, no chance that was a foul.

Ugh... we come out 2nd half and immediately try shooting the 3 ball followed by a CSU basket.
