SDSU has a strong side, we're outmatched. Didn't show a ton this game, kind of a mystery going in, I think we'll stay that way for another week or two.
Tonight absolutely. I'm withholding judgement for the rest of the season until I can see us work against FCS opponents. USD should be a good game next week. Non-scholarship team, but beat CP in the playoffs last season.
Well a 3 TD loss, could have been waaay worse. Doss was impressive as per usual. Outside of the early picks, Maier ended up putting together a solid outing. The run game needs some work, but there towards the end Modise had a couple of nifty runs. Tough to learn much from a game like this where 1 team is physically superior by a large amount.
Time to head back to Davis and get ready for USD.
Speaking of USD, they won their game today against division 2 Western New Mexico, but allowed over 450 yards of passing. Doss could be in for a big day if they allow those kind of numbers in the secondary.
Well, I think we beat the spread for sure! :-} We we're clearly outmanned against SDSU's first unit but we looked pretty good against their reserves. Great game for Doss and a very decent performance by Maier. We had some big hits but also had some poor tackles. I think we showed our youthfulness but you can see the potential is there. We're going to see a lot of improvement as these kids get more D1 game speed experience.
Exactly what I was trying to convey and the commentators even mentioned in the stream. Yes, we were clearly outmatched, but there are things to build on here. There were flashes of good things. Once Maier calmed down, he was accurate and made good decisions with the ball. Doss abused DBs of a potential top 25 FBS team. Montgomery had a couple of nice catches against the reserves. It's still too early to tell how this season is going to go, but there were some positives from tonight.
