And so it begins after a year and a half hiatus.

Aggie volleyball lost to Sac, 3-1 (27-29, 22-25, 25-20, 24-26), in a match at Sacramento. Sets were close, but not enough of them for the Ags.

Next Causeway event is women's soccer on September 12 in Davis.

The Aggies lost to the #6 Gators 25-21, 25-11, 25-18. Pretty good against the #6 team in the nation. The Aggies are a very young team and they have been led by 2 Freshmen so far: Olivia Utterback and Amara Aimufua. The team has 7 freshmen, 3 sophomores, and 3 juniors so the future is bright. The Ags play #17 UCLA Sunday in the Pavilion.

The Aggies lost to #16 UCLA today 25-21, 24-26, 25-27 and 21-25. So two tough loses to Sac and UCLA. Both of these games could have gone either way but the Aggies couldn't take the close sets. I think this is a sign of a young team that is still learning to play together and how to finish. They'll get better as the season progresses.

I watched some of this. Really came down to a couple point at the end of the last two sets. We seem to be a young team learning how to win. It’ll be interesting to watch them mature.

UCD women defeated Sac 1-0 today in soccer. Causeway Cup tied at 5-5. Next scheduled event is men's soccer at Davis on October 30.

(This assumes there is a Causeway Cup competition this season. UCD has not updated their Causeway Cup webpage since 2019-20, Sac has not updated theirs since 2017-18.)

(We can speculate whether or not there will be baseball.)

UCD men defeated Sac 2-1 today in soccer. Causeway Cup points are now UCD 10, Sac 5. The win assures the men of a spot in the conference soccer tournament, with the exact seed depending upon the results of a match between UCR and UCSD. With the loss Sac is eliminated from the conference tournament.

Next Causeway event(s) will be men's and women's cross country in the NCAA regionals to be held in Sacramento on November 12.

On the subject of cross country the women won the Big West conference meet this past week. The men finished fourth.

UCD women placed 9th and host CSUS placed 20th in the NCAA Cross-Country West Regionals today. On the men's side, UCD was 20th and CSUS only entered two runners and did not compete as a team. The current score for the Causeway Cup is now UCD 20, CSUS 5.

Next up is football on the 20th.

Apparently we lost the football game. Cup score: UCD 20, CSUS 10.

Next competition(s): Basketball doubleheader this Tuesday, 11/23.

This may be the last refuge of the Causeway Cup....UCD has not updated the page on their website since the 2019-2020 season ground to a halt. Sac last updated their site in 2017-18 and I cannot find any hint of it at all on their current site. Too bad for Sac...if we were still counting by the initial rules, when volleyball, football and the basketball games were worth ten points, the score would be tied at 30-30. As it is, with all sports being worth five points and after the split in basketball, UCD leads 25-15.

Next up would seem to be gymnastics, but I am not sure which meets might count, again assuming the whole "competition" hasn't been dropped altogether. The teams meet in a quadruple meet in Davis, and in three dual meets, one in Davis and two in Sac.

Beach volleyball, softball and baseball have not posted schedules yet, and who knows if baseball will even schedule each other this year?

It appears that the Causeway Cup is currently on suspension or has died for lack of interest, but undaunted I will proceed and note that over the last two weekends the Aggie gymnastic team has defeated Sac not once but twice. On the 9th the Ags hosted a triple meet with Michigan State and Sac. The Aggie women finished second to Sac State's third. This past weekend Davis defeated Sac in a dual meet held in Davis. With four meetings scheduled between the two this season, and no record keeping on either school's website it is difficult to keep track of the score, assuming there is one,....but were we to award 1.25 points for each of the four meets, then the running score is now UCD 27.5, CSUS 15. If we go with the idea that gymnastics is determined by home and away dual meets each worth 2.5 points, then yesterday would have been the home leg and again the running score would be UCD 27.5, CSUS 15.

With no baseball game on the schedules this year, there are 85 possible points.

The next scheduled event between the two schools is men's tennis on February 11th in Davis.

Whatever the "official" status of the Causeway Cup may be this season, yesterday was a good day for the Ags in competitions against the Hornets. Men's tennis won, 4-3, in a match in Davis and gymnastics defeated the Hornets, 195.625-1995-000, in a meet in Sacramento. Unclear how gymnastics would be recorded in a year when neither school is recording anything, but conservatively the running score is UCD 32.5 - CSUS 15.

Next scheduled competition is women's golf when both teams compete in the Gunrock Invitational on February 28th and March 1st.

Sac finished tied for 6th place (of 11 teams) with 866 strokes, well ahead of the Aggies who finished in 10th place with a score of 882, at the Gunrock Classic.

The Aggies are a very young team - of seven players on the roster there is one senior, a sophomore, a red-shirt sophomore and four freshmen. (One of the freshmen is Elle Rastvortseva of Kyiv, Ukraine.) They have finished either in last place or next to last in most of their competitions this year, going back to the fall season.

Sac had a player hit a hole-in-one yesterday.

The two teams will compete against each other again in three weeks at the Fresno State Classic. There still does not seem to be an official Causeway Cup, so unofficially, and awarding 2.5 points for this meet, the running score is UCD 33.75, CSUS 17.5.

The next competition between the schools is on Saturday, March 5th, when they will meet in gymnastics at Sacramento and also in softball at Davis as part of the Capital Classic. The softball teams are scheduled to meet again on the following day in Sacramento, also as part of the Capital Classic.

Aggies and Hornet split today as Davis won the gymnastics meet in Sacramento, 196.225 - 195.400, to sweep the season series. In a softball game in Davis the Hornets defeated the Aggies, 2-1.

Unofficial Causeway Cup score is now UCD 35, CSUS 20.

The softball teams meet again tomorrow in Sacramento as part of the Capitol Classic.

The Hornets defeated the Aggies today in softball, 3-2.

Causeway "score" is UCD 35, CSUS 22.5.

Next competition between the two schools is March 21-22 when the women's golf teams play in the Fresno State Classic.

No real surprise here as the women's golf team has finished in last place or next to last in most of the events they have entered this year. They finished in 15th place with a score of 924 at the Fresno State Classic. Sac finished with 893 strokes and tied for 7th.

As I noted in an ealier post, Davis is a very young team. Four of seven golfers are true freshmen. One is from Kyiv, Ukraine and according to her bio still competes for the Ukrainian national team, or did recently. The current situation there has to effect her mental game, but then how much of golf is mental?

The tournament was a good indicator of the Big West competition as seven of the nine conference teams competed in Fresno.

Unofficial running score for this year's faux-Causeway Cup is UCD 35, CSUS 25. Next event is a scheduled beach volleyball match at the Big West Challenge next weekend in Long Beach.

An 18 year old Ukrainian golfer playing golf in the states at this time is so sad. Who said golf was a mental game or not? Or if she should even still play. This is where true great coaching comes into play. Coach should be on the phone with her every few hours and a.so her teammates. F*****g Russian war. Hate those russkie bastards.

Aggie women defeated Sac, 5-0, in beach volleyball at the Big West Challenge hosted by Long Beach State. Unofficial running score of the unofficial 2021-22 Causeway Cup is UCD 37.5, CSUS 25. Next scheduled event is between the men's golf teams when they both compete at the El Macero Classic on April 20-22. Then on the 23rd (Picnic Day!!) both beach volleyball and women's tennis teams compete in Davis.

Aggie men's golf team finished 6th of 14 teams at their own El Macero Classic with 865 strokes. Sac had 871 strokes to finish in a tie for 8th. Thursday proved to be the difference as the Ags shot 282 to Sac's 297. Running score for the phantom 2021-22 Causeway Cup is now UCD 42.5, CSUS 25. Next up are women's tennis and the second of two beach volleyball meetings, both tomorrow at Davis. With only 17 sports this year the Ags have assured at least a tie in this year's unofficial Causeway competition

A good day for the Aggies as they defeated Sac in beach volleyball, 4-1, in the morning and then in women's tennis, 4-0, in the afternoon.
If the schools recognized a Causeway Cup this year the running score would now be UCD 50, CSUS 25. That means that even if the schools had competed in baseball, and CSUS had won, the Ags would still have won the overall Cup competition.
The final events between the schools this year are the Causeway Cup Duals in track & field to be held at Sac this coming Friday the 29th.

    Go Ags!

Sac won both sides of the Causeway Cup track meet, the Hornet men defeating the Ags 95-79 and the women out scoring their Aggie counterparts 106-81. With that the unofficial 2021-22 Causeway Cup comes to a close, the Aggies winning the overall competition 50-35.

(Don't tell anybody, but if this was scored by the original rules where football, volleyball and both basketball games were scored as 10 points, and if there was baseball this year and Sac won, the final score would be 55-55.)

NOW they say something. Does the UCD website get all its news from this website ?

Test: someone post some fake news and see if they publish it.
