Even TOP was about equal in the end, most other offensive stats favoring the Aggies. Which means the Ags were dominant in pretty much every category second half.
I have to eat some of my words, I'm much less nervous now
The something like 3-1 TOP ratio with their QB casually shaking off defenders was cause for concern IMO, I usually don't expect for defense to somehow become better against the run the later the game goes on
We looked stronger and stronger as the game went on. Rodrigues was effecient and showed some mobility. Gilliam shredded their d line and Larison looks like an exciting relief guy. Instant connection between Rodrigues and Crawford. Defense was stout and showed up big in the 2nd half. Fun fun game. Weber is on another level so we still have to find ways to turn the heat up
I was kidding about not knowing why some were nervous.
Even the play calling in the first quarter looked like the coaches didn’t have faith in Rodrigues
Gilliam is now No. 4 all-time on the Aggie rush list. Next fall is his senior season, I think, not sure how the NCAA is carrying over eligibility after the whole mess of 2020.
EWU 26 NAU 6 with 9:17 to go in the 3rd
Idaho State 26 SUU 24 Final
NDSU 25 Missouri State 0 Final
So Dakota St 45 Western Illinois 10 with 9:36 to go in the 4th
Rodrigues played super in my opinion. No mistakes and a very accurate and confident arm. Also he was able to run a bit and avoid pressure, something that was lacking with Maier. Getting Carson Crawford back is very very big. Hard to get all of the talented receivers in. D improved over time and Idaho QB looked confused and lost confidence at end. I guess he may not be the best QB in the league (I understand those were his words).
And they supposedly thought their run game was gonna be a strength this season. I know they have some O line injuries, but still we shut it down pretty well... Btw did anyone happen to notice they had freshman on their line? The commentators maybe mentioned it once, twice, a hundred times.
Congrats to our D for hanging tough while playing big minutes.
It seems like when we opened up our offense - the why is interesting - we started to move the ball, giving the D a blow. Moving the ball allowed us to bring in new pieces - including Larison, Babbs, Castle.
HR's statline is actually kind of nuts under the circumstances. He was 12/22 in his Aggie career going into this game, virtually all against second and third string defenses. And then this game with the delay and playing from behind he puts up Maier numbers
Pluto TV and the Big Sky website had the Vandal TV broadcast, no video from Aggie side I believe, though we'll be spoiled for home games with the CW coverage
