    Doss is playing.

Doss logged 44% of all offensive snaps last Sunday vs. Tennessee

Doss bad drop vs. Jaguars...and Carr being Carr, he goes right back to KD two plays later to keep the confidence up. Nice gain by Doss for a first down.

Jerry McDonald of the Bay Area News Group reports that the team has tendered wide receiver Keelan Doss, long snapper Trent Sieg, kicker Daniel Carlson, conerback D.J. Killings, safety Dallin Leavitt and defensive end Jeremiah Valoaga. The players can’t talk to other teams once tendered, so they’ll likely be signing back with the Raiders soon.

Raiders are looking WR with one of their 1st Rd picks per ALL accounts. Unless a major defensive difference maker drops to Pick No. 12 -- expect the Raiders to take WR CeeDee Lamb from Oklahoma, WR Jerry Jeudy from Alabama, or WR Henry Ruggs III from Alabama.

Las Vegas also recently signed WR Nelson Agholor from Philadelphia. Agholor is a speed receiver, who had major drop issues last season...but played very well in 2017, and in 2018 during Philly's Super Bowl run.

Raiders have drafted three wide receivers with their first 4 picks. I think Doss should be on the phone after Saturday's Day 3 of the NFL Draft. Both, the Broncos and the Raiders seem to be building their playmaker field like the Chiefs...explosive, shifty and blindingly fast.

A couple other noteworthy NFL tidbits:
Broncos released former Aggie punter Colby Wadman. Was making $1.7 million and 2 years into a 3 year deal.

Broncos also fired their OC, Rich Scangarello, who was former ucd OC.

And former Aggie rb Josh Kelley is likely to be a 4th round draft pick. Was phenomenal after transferring to UCLA after Gould left.

Former Aggie star, UCLA transfer and Ron Gould disciple, RB Josh Kelley has been drafted No. 112 Overall to the LA Chargers. Good for Josh! With Melvin Gordon being dealt to the Broncos, he'll have a very good opportunity to mix it up in that offense, which now touts NFL veteran Tyrod Taylor and former Duck Justin Herbert at QB after Rivers was sent to Indy.

Side note, if Gilliam keeps up the production, he could be drafted...the NFL is getting faster and more versatile every year. Gilliam does everything.

Current list of WR on the Raiders fluxing, draft days roster:

Tyrell Williams (2019 High Profile Free Agent)
Henry Ruggs III (2020 1st Rd Pick)
Hunter Renfrow (2019 5th Rd Pick)
Nelson Agholor (2020 Medium Profile Free Agent)
    Zay Jones
Lynn Bowden Jr. (2020 3rd Rd Pick)
Bryan Edwards (2020 3rd Rd Pick)
    Marcell Ateman
    Keelan Doss
    Rico Gafford
    Anthony Ratliff-Williams

Doss has to beat out Ateman and Ratliff-Williams . . . for the practice squad. Gafford probably gone.

I forgot Doss managed to engineer a nice 3 yr contract last offseason. He's like the highest paid practice squad player in the NFL.

I give up, what's an "exclusive rights tender?" Sounds like good thing, but what's involved? Mostly, what is the upside for Keelan?
  • DrMike
    1.3k
    any idea what that means?
  • DrMike

‘ Exclusive rights free agents, players with two years or fewer NFL experience, offered tenders are essentially bound to their NFL team. They can’t negotiate with other teams, and must sign the contract offer or sit out the season.’
  • 72Aggie
    389
That sounds less good. Bound to one team, can't negotiate with other teams, take that teams' offer or sit. Hopefully there is some money up front during the life of the tender.

Good luck to Keelan in any event.

Seems like the Raiders would use these tenders for players they want to protect and keep. Sounds like a good sign that they have plans to develop Keelan.

Much prefer your interpretation. Can see though that it could be used to hold on to players, then if circumstances force the team to cut the player late in the pre-season, the player has fewer opportunities to latch on with another team.

Hopeing for the best for Keelan.

    FWIW

...and for what it's also worth, Doss signed a Re-signed/exclusive FA One-year contract (through 2020) on May 6. Not sure what that means for the Raiders and Doss after the cutdown...my guess is he's tradable for a certain price, o/w the Raiders will continue to develop Kee and use him as a spot backup should injuries arrive...and they always do.

Looks like Doss was cut by the team on 9/6 and then signed to the practice squad on 9/9. Hope a spot opens up for him.

Keelan Doss: Locks down practice squad spot
    by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Doss signed with the Raiders' practice squad Sunday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.

Doss played eight games with the Raiders last season and recorded 11 catches for 133 yards. The team brought in reinforcements at wide receiver this offseason, and Doss failed to beat out Rico Gafford for the No. 6 WR role in Las Vegas. Doss will continue to develop on the practice squad while waiting for a potential spot to open up on the active roster.

    Keelan Doss: Waived by Raiders
    by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
The Raiders waived Doss on Saturday.

Despite averaging 23.3 snaps per game over eight contests with the Raiders last year, Doss was cut by the team to start the 2020 season. Since he has experience with the Raiders, he could stick around as a practice squad member.

Henry Ruggs III left the Carolina game with what looked like a knee injury, thankfully for the Raiders, the speedster was back on the field in the second half.

Injuries happen, Doss just needs to keep grinding, which is exactly what a practice squad player is paid to do: Be ready.

I think Doss was called up this week...
  • SoCalAggie

Played a few snaps but we’re nearly all one plays. One of his snaps he ran a deep post route that left a raider WIDE open for a decent conversion. I think he was out there for sub 10 snaps

Raiders got the Chiefs this week. Might be a lot of garbage time snaps...Doss could be filling in a lot of time in the second half.
