The Aggies start an 8 game road trip today in Jonesboro, Arkansas, against the Idaho Vandals at 3 pm. They will be playing 3 games in the next 4 days while in Jonesboro: Friday against Arkansas State and Sunday versus VMI. Idaho holds a perfect 7-0 record against the Aggies historically.

Greg Wong will provide the radio PBP call on Money 105.5 FM. There is no tv or live stream coverage.

    Go Ags!

Looks like this one will be a battle of the guards. UI started 6'1", 6'2", 6'3", 6'4", and 6'8" last game with not much size off the bench. Hopefully that bodes well for Neufeld and Koehler. And one of these games Manjon and Pepper are going to break out on the offensive side. It's interesting that UI barely snuck by an NAIA team in their opener before pushing UCR (at Riverside). We are favored by 4 but this feels like a game we could win by double digits, if our defense is locked in. Go Ags!

you wrote down my thoughts exactly about how you expect the game to go. defense will be the key. our good teams had the defense spark the offense (and carry a cold shooting team).

Looks like the starting lineup against William Jessup was an anomaly. We are back to Squire, Manjon, Fuller, Mooney and Neufeld. Let's go Ags!

Ugly so far...Aggies already have 10 TO's with 8 minutes to go in the half...Squire injured and out of the game...

    36-28 Idaho at the half.

Down by 8 at half. And that is actually better than what it could have been. TO's and sloppy defense. Fueller seems to be more aggressive on offense, but Mooney and Neufeld are struggling again. Les will need to light a fire at half.

nice win....got killed on the boards (they had 12 offensive boards) but our shooting was pretty solid. mooney got hot when we needed him. nice to see 18 out of fuller.

Mooney was the man down the stretch. Very nice second half. Wish it was being streamed

Manjon was spectacular. 17 points on 7-10 from the floor including the final bucket. Mooney with 16 and Fuller had his best game with 18. Big block on the Vandal's 3 point shot by Adebayo. Unfortunately, we may have lost Squire.

VMI is a team we should beat. I think the same with Arkansas State, although they are at home. be nice to finish the weekend 2-1, or 3-0, and get the season off on the right foot. we got buried last year at 1-4 and never seemed to recover.

Arkansas State will be tough in their own house. They're athletic and physical. We have to block out really well or we'll get killed on the boards.

Manjon is a star and only a freshman. As marsh said after the Jessup game, he’s tj shorts with a jump shot.

Arkansas State is leading VMI 40-29 at the half. The Red Wolves are shooting 67% overall by dominating in the paint 32-10 with twice as many rebounds than VMI.

Arkansas State beat VMI 71-56. They shot 58% overall and won the points in the paint 48-22. The Ags will need to limit the Red Wolves ability to dominate the paint. They will test our interior defense.

We’ll need a big game from Nuefeld. He struggled last year with fouls but has been fine so far. Had some turnover problems tonight.

Arkansas State should be a real good test for the guys tomorrow night. I agree with the need for Neufeld to be a force inside. I love his game, he shows flashes of being a dominant big man down low, it just seems to be a matter of consistency and putting all the tools together at one time. I think by the end of the year and by the time we get into conference play he's going to be on the verge of doing so

Not to get too inside b-ball here, but I've rewatched the last two plays a couple of times now and it's amazing how the little things can be the difference between winning and losing. For our last bucket, after running the offense, Manjon backs out for the last shot. He gets a Neufeld screen, but the big man guarding Neufeld doesn't show - meaning he doesn't get high up on the screen. He sits back and allows Manjon to come around the screen with momentum towards the basket. A high show (which the Ags do...more on that in a bit) would have forced Manjon to go a couple of steps further to his left to get around the big guy, giving his original defender time to get off the screen and back into position. Plus once Manjon made the turn towards the basket, the week-side defender (guarding Mooney) just stands there. He needed to come over and force either a tough shot, or a drop pass to Neufeld. We might still have scored, but that's terrible defense on both the big guy and the week-side guy and allowed our true freshman to win the game on an easy layup.

Now, on our last defensive play the ball handler uses a screen (more of a running screen) to go to his right and to get a shot off. BUT Peppers shows high, cuts him off and forces him back to Adabayo who gets the game saving block. Perfect smart defense! And the best part, the three guys that made the crucial plays are all true freshman. If they can continue this effort, and expand it to 40 minutes and not just minutes here and there, we've got ourselves the makings of a great Aggie team.

great analysis. I was impressed that Manjon didn’t panic with the clock running down after the offense broke down. Very mature play. Defensive stop was textbook.
