I think the coaches poll reflects the low regard that we were held in the Big Sky preseason coaches poll. If we win games against the top teams in the conference our ranking will jump this year and going forward. We’ve got something to prove in that we’ve never beat Montana or Eastern Washington.

Stanford moved up to 7 in the polls. probably due more to losses by Wisconsin and Auburn, than respect to the Cardinal beating us! :smile:

Obviously a huge game for us this week. A win and we continue to climb in the polls. But equally as important, it's the first (and in some cases, only) chance that the program has to influence the new batch of students (and freshman parents who may still be in town for move-in). Not saying that kids will or won't go to future games based solely on Saturday, but a good experience with a true college environment, exciting offensive football and most importantly, a victory, will certainly influence the way these freshman view the team, and whether they decide to come to future games.

Weather shows mid 80's and sunny for Saturday. All lining up for a good crowd!

Hopefully we pull out all the stops: uptempo, long bombs, trick plays, the new uniforms, zany Band-uh show, anything to make gameday a wild experience for the freshman

How does the AGS poll work? Does anyone on the message board get to vote?

I believe if you are a registered member you can vote but I'm not positive.

I think you have to have been a site member for at least a year and have at least 100 posts.

That sounds more like it, otherwise they'd have fans joining just to boost their team's ranking. I guess I could start voting since I meet those requirements but I just really don't know much about the midwest and east teams.

Yeah, that's always been my hesitation as well.

Coaches' poll has us at 22, up from 25. hard to understand Sam Houston at 19 with 1-2 (including a loss to UND who lost at home to Idaho State), probably hard to argue some of the others.

Maybe it's me getting soft in my old age or just not caring anymore, but you guys look really really good, and it's kinda cool to see a team from this area look poised to make the jump.

Sac is really talented but same ole, same ole when it comes to not playing stupid. I think the Causeway could be a barn burner this year.

Mean this sincerely, but good luck the rest of the way. This area is better when both teams are good.

Thanks PH. I completely agree, and have to admit that I was rooting for Sac State on Saturday and excited to see you were hanging with Montana in Missoula. Causeway and the rivalry are only improved when both teams are doing well. There'd be nothing better than for that game to have postseason implications, which hasn't been the case for a very long time.

I think this is the year that the Causeway means something in terms of a playoff berth. I think your schedule (4 home games) is a little easier than ours, although 3 of those games I think you win home or away. That SUU game roadie is a scary one despite their current record. We'll have to be really strong in a road-heavy October AND survive a murderer's row final four games to hope to make the playoffs. I think the future is bright on both sides of the causeway

although i think we might want to tap the brakes a bit. San Jose wasn't great (understatement) although a FBS team. San Diego laid a big old egg vs Harvard. And Idaho? Idaho isn't good.

I do think we have the potential to go 3-0 over the next 3, which would make November interesting for the first time in this century.
