I think we’re as overrated as Sac is underrated

As much as I hate to say it, I agree...

The Stats Perform FCS Poll has us at #6. This seems to be the poll that the NCAA relies on the most along with the AFCA Coaches Poll.

It's "prove it" time. Feels like the team that beat Tulsa was playing better than the team that just beat NAU. Maybe I'm just old and cranky.

Sam Herder at Hero Sports has an interesting poll in his Top 25 including the following:

Versus has moved the Ags all the way up to #11.

I don’t mean it as a negative; I think the coaches just see the record of a big sky team and keep moving us up. I just don’t think we’re better than all but 3 teams.

As for Sac, they have had an easy schedule but they have big wins (beside UNC) and a road win over Montana. That’s easily top 10 resume

I think we need to prove that we fully deserve those high ranking numbers in the next two games. If we beat both EWU and Sac, then I think #4 would be credible.

The thing that puts us ahead of Sac is we started the season with an FBS win. That put us ahead of them in the polls and we stayed there. Should have dropped more losing to Idaho State, that the weirdest part of our high ranking.
At this part of the season voters should notice that Sac is in the lead for the conference title and has arguably the best overall stats in the league.

PSU has shown improvement. Let’s hope they knock off J street.

@agalum I don't know. I enjoy Sac State losing as much as the next Aggie, but if we can slay the EWU dragon, and Sac beats PSU, 2021 could be the highest stakes Causeway Classic I can think of.

Yeah but if they don’t lose to PSU and we beat them, they still share the league championship.

that would assume Montana beats Montana Stafe in the “brawl of wild”.

Maybe more clarity next Sunday. I’ll be at the EW game but unfortunately I’ll be traveling for the causeway. That will be the first one I’ve missed in a long time and has the potential to be a real barn burner.

Need a polished game to prove the rankings right. I was already nervous about top 10 rankings, top 5 is really stretching it, especially since offense can't seem to put together two consecutive good drives

We've got a great opportunity to prove ourselves in these next two games and these games will determine whether we deserve those high rankings or not.

Top 5 may be really stretching it, but the other teams have their own flaws.
Give the offense their due, they outperformed the defense in first half of NAU game. The TD drve that started with five minutes let in the half and then the field goal drive that started with 57 seconds on the clock were beautiful. I bet our short time drives stats are among the best.

Another upside is Hastings has had 3 starts? More reps w 1s, upside, and an expanding arsenal.

AGS forum is interesting. I highly recommend checking out posts by “Mr. Chicken” who posts exclusively in “chicken speak - BAWK!” I always get a good chuckle. Think he’s a Delaware fan.
