'Spring' game is Saturday at noon at Aggie Stadium. I think I went last year, but don't remember much. Not sure how much it will be like a real scrimmage. Looks like the weather will cooperate and it will be a spring-like 60 degrees with slight chance of rain.
I wouldn’t expect a blue-gold type scrimmage. More situational stuff and simulated drives ( advance the ball regardless of result of play to create scripted down/distance). That’s my guess. Minimal hitting. End the ‘spring’ healthy.
Jake had a good first drive took them four tries to punch it in from the 1. Backup QB came in number 12 got a free play on the sideline and number 17 made a one-handed catch that was just crazy.
missed field goal but plenty of leg to it now they're running 7 on 7s, it was full scrimmage before
Laugh of the day: Maier hits his Center in the back of a head in seven-on-sevens. Then there was an INT at the goal line. Followed up with a second chance TD out pass
Ended the ‘spring’ healthy which is great. Defense looked better, especially the DL. A couple of corners looked very solid. Run game was shaky but I figure that due to lack of contact during these practices.
I was on the sideline with some alum, and Doss came over to thank us for coming. What a nice kid. Articulate, very genuine. Why I like rooting for these ‘kids’
No spring injuries.
Doss may cover punts?
"Other players who stood out .... Logan Montgomery, tight end Christian Skeptaris, and sophomore receiver Darius Livingston, who made an incredible toe-touch grab in the left corner of the end zone."
"At running back, Ulonzo Gilliam, Namane Modise and Cam Denmark all got reps, while quarterback Brock Johnson (a transfer from Georgetown) gave Maier the occasional break."
Brock Johnson and Cam Denmark not on official roster. Denmark could be writer error, I only find a Euro soccer player. Carson Crawford also gets some notice on a twitter post.
New writer gets our last record wrong (he writes 6-5).
DB Tiger Garcia (6'3") blocks a punt, V White does well at DB.
Looks like Deontrae Cooper has joined staff as
Quality Control•WR. (Twitter) Previously with West Texas and Colorado State Pueblo.
This is a great kid who did nothing in high school but win...almost every game. I'm totally biased as he is a family friend, but I'm cheering for 12. Glad to hear we finished injury free...that's the most important result. Can't tell anything from Spring Games, so not worried or overexcited (other than football is being played). The next goal is to have great summer workouts and stay healthy. How many people were out there?
Its good to hear about new guys making their presence felt. Winning 22 games in a row is a pretty impressive accomplishment. Plus Johnson started at least one game at Georgetown as a frosh. Good depth additions at QB this year.
