No doubt. They are several steps ahead of us, which is a good thing

Sylvester is a really good back. Could be a nice three headed monster next year in the backfield.

"Pinnick's on-the-run 40-yard dime to the back corner of the end zone is one of the prettiest, most impressive throws that I have ever seen at any level of football."

I didn't watch all the games and every minute, but when I saw that dart I was like "what"? I believe I rewound it and to see the distance. I posted my feedback real time ... what game was it?

I've seen 15, 20 yards throws like that, but 40 was very impressive, and it was precise.

    Are they?

Need a longer FS to match up with the bigger guys over the middle. The young guys are pretty slight and none over 5’10. Put on the wishlist with a TE, another TE (or big receiver with some position versatility), a big back to rotate with Fish, and a QB.

Jaden Rashada somehow was able to transfer to Mississippi State after his limited and failed run at Sac State. He's a prime example of what's wrong with the transfer portal and state of college football as a whole... He's on college #6 already.

It's just lazy recruiting. There are a ton of athletes who are given a ton of rope because of the perception of how good they are, vs. how they actually play.

Is the portal kid from Idaho fast enough to play Free, or is he more of a Strong? At his size, he seems to be a guy that can match a TE up the seam. We play with multiple Safeties on the field, a kid with his measurables strikes me as that TE-match player.

We'll have 4-5 candidates at Tight End ourselves, led by what might be the best in FCS with Williams. He needs to stay healthy.

The "big back" would have already been snatched from the portal by now, that ain't happening I don't think.

Another QB? What, you're not comfortable with a redshirt freshman  I don't think another one of those is coming either.

Speaking of young players, the new LB is going to be a sophomore, Seivers is a sophomore, and what else is there behind them? #44 and #13 I think were numbers I recall rotating through last season.

    Kicker...

That was a repost from several weeks back. Just a bad joke since the staff seemed to have similar thoughts on roster needs.

Doesn’t seem super quick but he’s probably 3rd behind fisher and Kai right?

Oregon reportedly offered him as a transfer. He was a sought after HS recruit class of 24., Would have been a top recruit for Davis. He could easily end up the number 2 back.

I don’t think the kid is transferring here to be 3rd string. He was 2nd place behind Davion Godley at Webster who transferred to Stanford. So he should have had a lock on the starting job next year. Why transfer? Could be problem with the coach? Or he wants to win and thinks Davis gives him a better chance over the next two years. With an offer from Oregon he must have felt there was a better chance to play here. I hope we have a winner on our hands!

The way that Plough talked about him on the lastest Aggie Pride Podcast episode makes it sound like he's going to get playtime right away. Mentioned that he's a good pass catcher out of the backfield.

Sylvester only played in five games last year and rushed for just over 300 yards. Why didn’t he play more? New coaching staff coming in at Weber, they had 20+ players in the portal.

Knee injury. Ideally need two backs to carry the load plus a specialist or two to platoon. If healthy this guy should be heavily in the mix.

Need at least two RBs and you don't turn down Oregon unless they either didn't offer or you are going somewhere else to play. Probably the latter. Expect him to be Vargas from early last season.

This was a nice Pinnick 40-yards in the air to Gbatu with ease.

I know how I feel. Good for him given the current state of college football. However, he is no longer a "Davis guy" to me, so no more highlights (I know, I posted a link) or commercials. Persona non grata. It would be different if he was a grad transfer, but he's a Coug now with three seasons of eligibility remaining that won't be spent as an Aggie. Not personal, but he made the choice to leave and I wish him the best. But I don't give a rat's ass if he throws a football through the tire swing. Nor will I bemoan his departure or use him to compare future UC Davis QBs. Moving on.

All of that - I think the bigger thing irking me is that Davis can't compete on this level for money and things - do we care or are we committed to getting in the game? Will the notion of 'Davis guy' mean anything in 10 years if we carry on in such a manner?
