A sobering stat for us: we gave up 24 points on turnovers to 11 for us. Not great. At all.

The end of the first half featured a dunk by NDSU that was ruled as after the buzzer. And I can definitely prove that it was!

I am encouraged by the win tonight. NDSU has been historically pretty strong and was a pre-season pick to be 4th in their league despite a big makeover on their roster from last year. They played Oregon St very close and Oregon St. is expected to be strong this year. Way too early to tell of anyone who is good yet, but the win is encouraging. I just caught some of it on ESPN streaming and Sevilla looked quick and confident, Cooper seemed improved from last year and Niko also seems improved.

Aside from the other players mentioned, Folsom High Chase Rawlins, a freshman, has been getting some solid minutes and looks like he will be an impact player. Chase was a 4 year varsity starter at Folsom and had 1,000 career points.

I don’t think Abatemarco was the color person last night. I was at the game so haven’t seen the feed, but from across the building that person looked much younger. I’ll try to watch the intro.

The second half team played really well. First half defense was good but it seemed like the offense was really stagnant. Lots of contributors last night. I missed that Daugherty was out - that’s an offensive threat we could have used.

Rebounding is a concern, especially offensive. It felt like most of the Bison’s first half points were on second or third chances.

Lousy crowd but typical of early November. I got into town around 4:30 for dinner and it felt like the town and campus were dead.

Someone mentioned the points off turnovers. I was really surprised that we had 18 turnovers (Cooper had 6!) last night - it didn’t seem like we were overly sloppy with the ball.

Regarding the Aggies' sluggish first half:

“We got lucky to get out of there tied,” admitted Aggie head coach Jim Les.

“I was not at all happy with the way we played early and our lack of energy. We believe in truth telling in our program and there was a lot of truth telling flying around the locker room at halftime. But then our intensity, our effort and our physicality got better. We stress how you can impact the game in so many ways even when you don’t have the ball and that helped turn things around.”

    Connor Sevilla post-game comments:

“I give all the credit to my teammates for finding me with the ball when I was open,” said Sevilla, a 6-1 junior from San Ramon.

“I have more confidence in myself this year and I felt great today. I’m blessed to have this opportunity this season.”

Added Les of his budding superstar, “He’s one of those guys who I actually have to kick out of the gym because he is such a hard worker. He’s not tall, but the size of his heart is enormous.”

Don't know if the numbers would back this up, but just from watching the first two games it feels like the Ags are running more set offensive plays than they have in recent years. Last couple of years the half court offense seemed like pass pass run the clock down and let TY or Eli create and score (obviously that's a simplistic view). Since we don't have that individual superstar (yet), we have to run set pieces to get a good luck (still some isolation game with Cooper and Wilson.)

Honestly feels nice to know that on any given night, anyone of several players (Wilson, Sevilla, Omer, Nils, Chappell, etc.) could lead the team in scoring. And when Fagbeymi and Esso-Essis and Daughterly get healthy, we are going to be a very deep team (words that I can't remember ever writing about an Aggie team). Still holes of course (interior defense, rebounding) but it's been a great start to the season.

At one point, we had Wilson, Rawlins and Stokes on the court.....i can't recall us ever having 3 freshmen on the court at the same time in a 'real game' during crunch time.

Did Daughtery injure his arm or hand against Menlo?

Also, I might have not caught this, but during tip-off, didn't N Dakota St get the ball? When I tuned back in after halftime, I thought they also started with the ball. Again, might be wrong because I was trying to skip the ads, but thought I'd ask if anyone also caught this!

That's very interesting you said that, because in the video it was Tom and Scott!

I didn't understand why NDSU got the ball to start the second half either since they won the tip at the start of the game. I figured I must be missing something since the Aggies didn't protest it.

it’s alternating possessions. They won the opening tip, we got a jump ball in the first half - they were next possession at the half.

Thank you for the explanation! That makes more sense now.

I don’t remember Daughtery getting hurt on Monday so it could have happened in practice on Tuesday. We definitely need to get him, as well as Essis and Fagbeymi, back soon.

It just dawned on me that Marsalis Roberson is no longer with the program. Disappointed we never got to see him healthy. I remember talked to Sevilla's dad last year early in the season about the team and he was saying that his son called him a 'game changer'.
