In the 15th inning Nick Leehey hit a solo homerun to give them a 1-0 win in Long Beach.
Carter Delaney pitched 5 innings of relief for the win. For him it was probably a nice redmption for the time he balked in the winning run in extra innings on get-away day in Hawaii. He pitched well then too.
In other times this win would've been a little more impressive, but Long Beach isn't great this year.
One interesting stat. Both starting pitchers went 7, but the Dirtbags' reliever went EIGHT. Lasted longer than the starter and all he gets for it is an L.
Hopefully this doesn't mimic what happened in 2020. UCD beat LMU in a 24 inning game that took two days to finish. The next day the Aggies played a doubleheader and were thoroughly walloped by the Lions in both games due to their best pitchers' having been used in the marathon. UCD only used 2 relievers in this one-their best two.
Quite a pitching duel! I looked at the box score and the game started at 6:06 pm and finished at 10:52 pm...4 hours and 46 minutes long with a good crowd of 1885 in attendance. I wonder how many stayed until the end?
The Aggies are now 22-23 overall and 9-13 in the BW with 10 games to go. I'm sure they'd like to finish above .500 for the season. Go Ags!
