Remember when LeGarrette Blount punched the BSU player after the Ducks lost to BSU? The Corner Club, Moscow's premier sports bar and alumni favorite spot made "Donkey Punch" t-shirts, which promptly sold out. I regret not buying one myself.
When I watched the Weber game again you can see the defense stepped up in the late third quarter. Announcers had an interesting observation about Weber’s that their last three drives averaged just 16 yards and ended with punts as opposed to long drives earlier in the game.
And conversely our last four drives went 69, 63, 23 and 56 yards.
In the game this spring the only defensive starter they had out due to COVID was a safety.
Gilliam got 146 yards on 26 carries. So they’re front seven didn’t dominate us last time.
They had three offensive linemen out but their fans think the offensive line along with the secondary are again the weakest areas of the team.
They have a 273 pound all big sky fullback/TE that they apparently use on defense to a limited degree. Has made one big TFL but it was against Simon Frazier. Scored on a reception and run against us this spring.
“ At a University of Idaho practice this week. The 6-3, 210-pound receiver with deceptive speed, uncanny hands and an elite small forward’s spring, loped down the sideline, casually reached overhead at the last moment, plucked a tight spiral out of the air from Mike Beaudry and rolled forward into the end zone to the accompanying hoots from teammates.”
“ Without giving away specifics, the Vandals spent time in practice leading up to the game with UC Davis working on gadget plays designed to get the Aggies’ defense on the wrong foot.”
“ All they do is play man,” says Hatten. “I’m excited to go.”
Sounds like a bad idea
I like former players or coaches on the broadcast. Usually they dumb down their commentary so it’s pointless but there is always a chance that they’ll make a cogent observation.
Hahaha a valiant effort on the paint horsehead logo. It's good enough that I'll let it slide that Davis athletics uses the comet CA logo pretty much exclusively now.
Oh, also a good write up. Frankly, I hope Petrino picked Beaudry to be the starter for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, we know he's beatable and this time it would be in Davis. Secondly, one weakness of our defense is containing QBs that like to run. While Beaudry can do some running is sounds like the new kid is more of a pure dual threat kinda guy. I personally wouldn't be looking forward to that. Good luck to y'all tomorrow!
Did you ever come across any indication we were interested in the Hatten brothers? Kind of right up our alley. Good enough to get into an Ivy, and in Arizona, an area we have been successful recruiting.
Do you think Maggie the Aggie has received any pointers in fitting her hat so it stays on at a gallop? Maybe Lan Larson could provide advice. Might be the hair though.
