258The AGS poll is (at least in part) ridiculous. Coaches not much better. Northern iowa has 3 losses, has no offense (they still do have a good defense) and are ranked 11,10 and 14 in AGS, STATS, and coaches poll respectively while the Aggies are ranked 21, 21, and 25 in the same polls.
*correction* I was pulling the stats and coaches poll off of the AGS spreadsheet so those weren’t updated. AGS poll still stinks.

I have watched a number of FCS games on ESPN+ and from what I have seen. The Aggies compare very favorably with all I have seen and are simply better than most.
NDSU won simply on line of scrimmage. They pushed UMD around and used a big back. There QB is not very good but if you control the line of scrimmage it may not matter. It struck me that UND did not have a large D-line, certainly nothing like Chubba and co. and they just got rolled in the fourth quarter. -

1.2kWe aren't getting a lot of respect in many of the polls right now. So we just need to keep getting better and win. The lack of attention by the "experts" might just be good motivation for the team. I've always felt that it's an advantage to play hard when you have something to prove. -

653I do not envy the folks who have to submit real ballots for voting. Got to make a lot of tough calls when teams have different number of games played and really only playing within conference. That being said, I'm still not sure how EWU is ahead of Davis right now. Both teams are 2-1 and both teams have a blowout win. The major difference is that the one common opponent we've have (Idaho) we beat and they lost and our 1 loss was a 1 score game against a consensus top 3 team. Pretty much every poll has us behind Eastern though. Just got to beat them in a couple weeks. -

188This year is weird indeed, but even in a normal year I think the FCS voters are predisposed to wanting MVFC vs CAA in the championship and decent teams in Big Sky and Southland get overlooked as much as possible. To the extent they can’t be ignored, the voters then move to name recognition as a metric. But I’d rather not be overhyped leading up to important games. Perceived underdog is a good position to be in, except for the polls after the last week - then if playoffs should be willed by the football gods, gimme those home games. -

258there is a definite advantage of having a good prior season and name recognition. Under that condition you have to fall out of the playoff selection and as you can see a couple of losses for a MVC team means they are still in for the most part. See what a couple loses does when you are not in the top 25. You are likely not in.

258Watched the Jacksonville State Austin Peay game. JSU looked real bad. 12 penalties and 4 turnovers in the first half. Two offsides in successive plays by same guy. Awful QB play. Incredibly stupid and sloppy playing. Hard to believe they still have a decent record and are ranked as high as they are. I think Ohio valley must be a weak league.
Watched some is the San Diego game. They do not look to have as good of personnel as the past few years. -

When i looked a few days ago it looked like most posters were putting EW ahead of us. The Vegas line has us 2.5 underdogs. -

714Comparing results, it’s a pretty close matchups. Both of us slaughtered Poly, both have last minute wins over ISU. We beat Idaho soundly, they lost. They beat NAU soundly, we lost a close one to Weber.
Idaho, by the way, has the one loss to us so they are lurking at the top. I wasn’t impressed with them at all; granted they had COVID issues but we moved the ball very well once we got settled and I think their COVID was primarily on the OL. They close with ISU, NAU and EWU. I’m expecting a 1-2 finish at best -

That’s really a joke this season with so few teams playing in the MEAC.
Cal Poly would be a contender in that league.
