That's a good question. Gonzaga really does seem to have an "unbalanced" sports program when you consider all of their sports. Men's basketball really towers above all the others in terms of national success.

I've been surprised that Gonzaga hasn't already moved to one of the big, power conferences given how successful their men's basketball has been at the national level over the years. There has always been a bit of a knock against them in the D1 rankings and tournament seeding where sports writers and fans often question their strength of schedule as a member of the WCC.

Irvine's outstanding Fr PG, Derin Saran, is transferring to Stanford. Saran averaged 10.1 PPG and 19 minutes per game as a true freshman last season at Irvine.

Yes...I just don't get "prosperity theology" but they may not be about that...my rant...I probably shouldn't have posted it...

My guess is Grand Canyon had a lot of deep-pocketed donors and the school made a commitment to winning at the D1 level without much of a commitment to academics and entrance requirements. They are a private, for profit, Christian school which, in my biased opinion, means they believe that "God wants them to get rich and win at any cost." Ten of their 14 players were transfers from other schools.

I agree. Les has had success building defensive minded, up-tempo teams that look to get out and run. I remember Bob Williams saying that Les is the best coach for developing guards on the west coast. Hopefully, TY will stay with the team and become the team leader and that Les will bring in some offensive talent to complement him. I think DeBruhl and Sevilla will see a lot more playing time also.

Les and his staff did a remarkable job of getting this team back on track. It really was a bummer that they missed out on goin to the NCAA by just a couple of points though. So many seniors and Pepper coming back in order help win a championship for Les...it's rare to see that kind of dedication and loyalty to a program anymore.

Even if the Causeway Cup doesn't officially exist anymore, I'll chalk this up as yet another Aggie win over the Hornets!

Wow...it's really surprising that the most well-known, newspaper journalist in Davis history was let go by the Enterprise. I've always enjoyed Bob's columns and his sports coverage. He's been an Aggie fan since he was a kid. This must be really tough for him.

I wonder if Bob is just cutting back and easing into retirement? I think he probably knows more about Aggie sports and Davis in general than anyone in the whole town.
