The University of Colorado’s athletic department is projecting that it will run a $27 million deficit during the current fiscal year ending in June 2026, in addition to needing $11.9 million in institutional support from the university and $2.2 million from student fees, according to budget figures obtained by USA TODAY Sports.
Those numbers are not final. The athletic department is hoping to bring that deficit down by the end of June with revenue from donations, sponsorships and concerts at Folsom Field. But it has never reported a deficit that big before, which could potentially leave the athletic department in need of more than $41 million in subsidies from the university, including the institutional support and student fees.
“That was a disappointing performance,” said Aggie head coach Jim Les.
“We had a multitude of mistakes at the start of the game and didn’t show a lot of discipline. We had moments when we fought back, but in life you get what you deserve and what you earn and tonight we earned a loss.”
As much as this is more fuel to the dumpster fire and is really unfortunate for the players, particularly those that just signed yesterday… I find it a relief. Gimmicky fancy cars on the field during official visits, signing a 4-star QB at the last minute that ended up benched yet Conklin transfers, endless "Go-Go" branding, a one-dimensional run-only play style that racked up ground yards but really isn't satisfying football to watch, post-game rap concerts, etc. Yeah, some of these go beyond Marion but it's still part of the team's culture under his lead as HC. What a joke this has become.
Hopefully Sac gets a HC that can bring some respect and maturity back to the program. +1 For the title of this thread. I'd love to see Taylor back in Sac.
