I wonder how Marsh’s job security is.

One sided TOP in quarters is now common now with the clock change last year,

Last year everyone that carried the ball for Davis had good average, and then they had a DT now.on the Vikings. Perez.and Chukwudobe totalled 112 yards, and Lan 109. Hastings threw 2 picks.
The Lions just gave up over 230 yards rushing to SDSU
Plough isn't going to ignore that so I think he will have a lot of running plays
I notice on their depth chart is their base defence has five DBs, several on the small size.

In response to your question about how 11.2 is as a 100m time I came across this.
Christian Calhoun actually competed on the UC Davis track team at 100m a couple of years ago. Ran 10.91 wind assisted and finished 5th in the Causeway Classic.

TAMUC has a linebacker, Turner, who had 15 tackles against SDSU. He is a R-Soph in the roster.but is now on the Senior bowl watch list, so I guess they decided he is a senior, hard to tell sophomores.from seniors these days.
He didn't play for them last year so he may improve their defence over last year.
On the other hand they don't have the defensive tackle who was a sixth round pick and made the NFL team.

If you look at the drive chart the Aztecs had punt punt FG punt downs FGA in the first half
In the second half it was TD TD TD TD downs. Plus an interception for a TD.
    Quite an avalanche.

Plough said in one of his interviews, i don’t recall which, that they look for signs teams are vulnerable to tempo, example being the San Jose State game. He said in another interview that tempo was a big thing for a while but teams are better prepared for iit.
Shortening the game makes sense when playing against better opponents. It is like being in a casino, your probability of walking out with money decreases with the number of bets, the odds catch up with you.
It remains to be seen how much Plough is going to feature Larison. They threw to him 7 times with 1 completion. I think he has got to be running from scrimmage against FCS opponents more than he did against Cal.

Somehow the Tubs at the Club guys mentioned David Myer and Rex Connors, but not Porter.
Davis defense played solid as a whole. Even some of the substitute d-line players made plays., secondary as a whole had a great game. Holding Cal to under 300 yards is a noteworthy achievement and the defense was still sound in the 4th quarter. I think categorizing the game as a typical FCS FBS game where the FCS team wore down is wrong.

I said a few weeks ago that I feared there was a good chance Idaho would be 1 - 3 when they played us. I was hoping they would be ranked as Davis needs a quality win to get ranked as most of the tough games are at the end. Hard to move up when you don’t play teams with a reputation.

Not as fast as Chukwudobe or Colton Silveria ran in high school.
Slightly faster then Cole Wright the Boise transfer.
I’m sure we’ve had many others faster than him in the 100. I think he is elusively quick.

Don’t want to count chickens before they hatch, but It comes down to ranking and record. If Davis and Sac are both ranked similarly, the loser won’t drop much in the polls. But to be a sure thing to get in, even at 8-4 I think they need a signature win. That is almost a sure thing, but not a certainty, depending on the seasons some of their victims have. For example Its possible to be 8-1 and then lose the last three games, and then you have to hope your team has a win over a ranked team earlier in season.

Larison should have got it for his 2 tackles.

Eck had no sacks, no fumble recovery for a touchdown and one more tackle, so of course he deserved it.(sarcasm).
  • 2024 Week 1: UC Davis @ UC Berkeley
In contrast, Cal had a big play with Ott, by just having him help out to block and then releasing into the flat. Cal was watching Larison wherever he went, Davis wasn’t watching Ott on that play.

It is just math that if Davis loses 3 of the 5 games you mention Idaho, EW, MtSt, MT, Sac, and win every other game they’ll be 8 and 4 and likely make the playoffs but not with a high seeding. If thats the way it turns out then better hope at least one of the teams Davis beats along the way is ranked to give Davis a quality win. If they get upset along the way then they will need to win 3 of those 5 to be 8-4. Need to be 8-4 with a quality win, however that works out.

    More good: wide receivers
Each of the three starters had good games, although Gbatu took a little while before having success. Chaz Davis has had good games each of the recent Cal and Oregon State games, CJ was outstanding, and Dobbins was a major contributor who was playing his first game as a true freshman. He is going to play a bigger role in future

Another true freshman, Mayo, a nose tackle, played.
