i just stream, and I only have ESPN+, and this year every game that they also had on ESPN2 or other ESPN variant remained on ESPN+ as well. Last year and I think years prior, if they put the FCS games on the main channels, you couldn’t watch them on ESPN+.I mention this in relation to the bigger audience that you note, the game was still available on ESPN+ which many FCS fans use.

I was surprised that all the playoffs, including the championship game were on ESPN+. Am i correct in remembering that wasn’t the case before?

Sad that it is apparently common for players to chose not to play in bowl games. I understand the financial incentive, for a player like Laiatu Latu at UCLA last year there was a lot of money at risk due to the risk of injury, but thats true of every game they play, not just the bowl game.

I don’t know he would have accepted an offer from Davis. in Wikipedia it says that he sent letters to every FBSteam and had two offers from FBS teams as a result. Unlikely that Davis under new coach Gould would have looked like a better option than Wyoming under a coach the freshly arrived from FCS champion North Dakota State.

Financial aid agreement used to be for maximum one year, maybe still are I don’t know.

Up until this fall, players who sign an NLI also had to sign a one year financial aid offer, They just changed that to eliminate the one year, so conceivably it could be shorter or longer beginning this year. Players now have to sign agreements listing everything they are being offered; financial aid, NIL money, loaner car etc.
I think the schools obligations don’t extend to four to six years

Seems incomplete as relates to Sac, only 7 guys.. i think they only are listing transfers from west coast schools, i guess they only consider if the source or destination is a major program in the west and Sac isn’t.

Terms devoid of football association exist like mid-major for basketball, and I suppose for soccer as well. Entire conferences don’t have football and are not considered lower in other sports because they aren’t FBS.

Sad to see how the term FCS is applied to all sports at an institution although it is supposed to apply only to football. They periodically change the label but it is now just shorthand for inferior.

I say that as a person who has taken more classes at state colleges than at UC, the two are not the same, although they have been converging with UC dropping SAT requirement.

When top recruits who haven’t played enough to show anything, or former starters find themselves buried in the depth charts choose to leave, all we as fans can do is hope they got a fair evaluation and wish them well.

They liked Williams from the time he returned last year from a multi year recovery from injury.
They started playing Simpson as soon as he recovered from an injury and at a point where he didn’t play in too many games to redshirt.
Apparently they preferred both over Gale. A number of players lost playing time under new management.

I wonder if Gale putting on as much weight as he did after averaging over 40+ yards a catch in 2022 diminished his effectiveness. Lots of spread teams have light tight ends and it seems that there would be a place for that especially with the multiple tight end sets.

At CCSF, which he attended for one year, he was behind a player, Kristoffer Olugbode who averaged 141 yards a game for CCSF. Olugbode didn’t do much at his next stop, Idaho.

Langley has been here four years, but only played in one game as a freshman.
Cotton played three years, nine games as a true freshman, no redshirt year.
But both listed as juniors, one based on eligibility, the other by academic year. They don’t have a standard method for the roster.
