  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
Is there any truth to the reports that the hornets have hired a full time in-house parole officer? :)

We actually were hammered with injuries as well. Most teams are in the same situation at that time of the year.

My grandson told me they gave the local high school football players free tickets (or admission). His team mates went so he joined in. If it was really 7,000, that’s impressive regardless of how they got the warm bodies in the stands.

I actually asked him at one of the luncheons about the our gpa requirements for recruiting, compared to other schools. As I recall, it was a 3.0 (i assume its a UC requirement) compared to 2.5 at other schools. One attendee, not Plough, said the nearby school can get any warm body admitted regardless of gpa, lol.
  • Aggie Give Day: Football nearing 70k in donations so far
I suspect that once they tally up the challenge donations it will be twice that amount. One challenge alone was 50k. I believe its based on the number of people joining in on the challenge, not necessarily the amount. So any small donation will help initiate the challenge.
  • Sacramento Kings star Mike Bibby to become Sacramento State's men's basketball coach
I think Coach Les brings a lot to the table beyond his W/L record. His development of the students on/off the court reminds me of Hawk. Les has a knack for finding talent that is flying under the radar and turning them into play makers. I’m hoping that the MW move will help us snag higher rated players. With the right tools Les will produce.

Yep. Then when the Maloofs were failing he was going to invest in them.

Cal got their moneys worth out of him. I guess on Sunday’s they’ll list him as a Cal grad even though it was the Aggies that helped him develop.
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
Some Sac fan on this board said the pac x was a done deal and look for a major announcement soon. That obviously never materialized. Standing back and looking at this entire scenario is sort of comical. I couldn’t make this stuff up if i tried.

If they’re FBS, even independent, they can pay us $450,000 when we travel to their place like other FBS programs do.

Turn the press boxes into luxury seating and build the press box above it, maybe?

“ The Spring game should be interesting.”
I’m bummed I’ll be out of town for it, but i plan to attend a few practices.

Aside from QB, there are some big shoes to fill at RB. Vargas is supposed to be a real exciting back to watch. But we have Fischer and Matteo in the mix. It will be interesting to see how our offense evolves with a mobile QB and the 3 RBs, each with their own style.

Yeah, I’m mainly retired these days so i haven’t had to deal with HR stuff in a long time. The process certainly has evolved, good or bad. Before retirement, at some point i was required to submit all my interview questions to HR ahead of time for approval, and had to ask the exact same questions to every candidate. I wasn't allowed the flexibility to explore an answer with further questions. But 25 years ago i stopped a guy who was essentially hired, and would be reporting to me. I found out his references were not called, but were only emailed. After making a few calls, it was clear he had a drug problem that had affected his on the job performance. But fortunately he did eventually get clean (we’re in the same profession so not hard to hear things) and obtained another job. Maybe i wouldn’t be able to make these calls under todays HR rules.

Well, I’m not sure but i believe UCD academic senate gets a crack at interviewing our head coach
    candidates.

“ You don't always know from an interview. I've got an employee who interviewed beautifully and is a huge pain in the ass to work with.”
I’ve been able to figure that part out by carefully scrutinizing references and personally calling them. A lot of times they’ll level with you on the phone vs what they say in an email.
