    We’re only rushing 3 guys.

EWU 7 MSU 41 at the half
  • MBB: Pepperdine (1-0) @ the Aggies (1-0) 2:30 pm Thursday 11/09
I was amazed that the Pepperdine defender didn’t foul TY on that last play to make him earn it at the line. I guess if you’re going to lead in a game, you might as well do it in the last 0.8 seconds. What a finish!

    Great find. Neat interview.

Finn2 got it. In my era, we always called them slac and it sort of stuck with me. Some folks call them J street or J street tech. Its all just rivalry mumbo-jumbo. You should see what they call us.

No, both didn’t play against PSU. They must have both been injured at NAU, but I’m not sure.

Two key players. Hopefully we get them back for SLAC.
  • MBB: William Jessop (2-1) @ the Aggies (0-0) 6 pm Monday, 11/06
That first half was a nail biter. I’m not sure if the second half turn around was our D or Jessup going cold. First half Pepper had ~19, he was most of our offense until the rest of the guys joined in the second half. But Jessup had 2 previous games under their belt. Maybe the first half for us was ring rust.

Lets hope we are in the position to hope for a playoff bid. This is a good time to peak. We did a lot of good things Saturday, with a few new faces and twists with LL. ISU won’t be a cake walk, and while SLAC has lost a few, they have a slew of good RBs and two good QBs. If we do win outright, we deserve to get in.
  • 2023 Week 10: UC Davis vs. Portland State
“Davis, CA – The UC Davis Aggies cut the heart out of Portland State's offense by stopping its running game and came away with a 37-23 Big Sky Conference win at UC Davis Health Stadium.

The Vikings had been averaging 39.0 points (4th in the nation) and 247.5 rushing yards (fifth in the nation), but didn't approach either of those numbers against a stout Aggie defense”

"We took the tough route," said Viking Coach Bruce Barnum. "We were stubborn with the run game because that's who we are. UC Davis did a nice job of making sure it didn't go smooth. You take away our run game, we need to have some answers."

Well, we finally started scoring in the second half and from the red zone. Maybe our best game of the season. Very proud of the fellas and coaches for responding with a great game plan. Where has Winston Wilson been? I had to look him up on the program after that huge play.
I left in the closing seconds. Did the PSU coach shake Hawkins hand?

Thank you for what you’ve done in the past.

Lets win out. It starts today!
  • PSU Head Coach Barnum Is Pissed Off at Hawkins
Maybe if Hawk wore his pirate attire they wouldn’t have recognized him, lol.
  • 2023-24 Women's Basketball

It was fun. I had a nice visit with Coach Les and a few of the players. It was a packed house, more people than what I’ve seen for football. The reoccurring theme for both teams was bringing home a championship. All the student athletes were impressive. It’s obvious there is good chemistry on both teams.

After they were calling for rain at game time, the forecast is looking better.

“ The Viks are flying sky high right now, their QB is turning into a remarkable playmaker.”
Not only their QB, but they have a kick rear RB, Jobi Malary, who ran for 241 yards and 6 TDs against EWU.

Will do. I’m looking forward to BB as well.
  • 2023-24 Women's Basketball

Wife and i will be. We always enjoy it. They do this one a little different than football, maybe bc there are fewer players. Its enjoyable to hear each player introduce themselves and learn something about them. But I’m never lucky on the raffle, lol.
  • 2023 Week 9: UC Davis @ Northern Arizona

Yeah, i picked up on that as well regarding fatigue. For some reason in years past the altitude was not “that” problematic for us. But LL and TT both may not have been able to work as hard as normal considering they are both nursing injuries.

Ws would be nice. I think we all have greater aspirations than a 6-5 team. At some point it just seems like you have to shake things up to get the desired outcome. As an example, when i was commuting on the train to the bay area, i developed a friendship with this guy who was an executive problem solver. He would be hired as a temp CEO to turn around companies that were failing. He was a good coach and mentor, but expected excellence if you were going to stay on the team.
Back to football, at some point in a loosing season you need to try something different. Maybe a few different linemen, a young RB or receiver, and yes, a different QB. Put some new talent in there and open it back up for competition to earn that starting position. This might bring back the “best” in players.
In the presser, Hawk mentioned the defensive adjustments necessary to deal with a dual threat QB. Well, thats one less thing our opponents have to worry about.
