Yes, thanks to all of you especially CA. I’m essentially a non-contributor on this thread, but always enjoy the posts and the anticipation of how our new recruits will contribute. We have one of the most active FCS forums in the country.

I hope he is the real McCoy. I was sort of expecting a JC transfer.

I’ve been a fan of Tompkins, mainly bc of his overall athleticism. But accuracy and reading the defense is not his forte. These are two areas we have desperately missed since Jake graduated. Jake could read the D, call an audible, and turn the down into something. Let’s face it, without a stud qb we likely could be looking at a mediocre season. We could go 0-4 out the gate. Cal, SDSU, Weber, then Montana state. Ouch.

I wonder if we are going to recruit a QB or work with our current troops? Maybe we’ll know Wednesday night.
  • Saturday Matinee vs the Beach
Well, was at the grandson’s basketball game and missed this one.

That loss to J street gave me a few more gray hairs. Painful.
  • MBB: Aggies (8-5, 1-1) host Cal State Fullerton (11-5, 4-0) 6 pm Thursday 1/26
And the Ags drop that one 74-58. It was a closer game than that up to the last several minutes
  • MBB: Aggies (8-5, 1-1) host Cal State Fullerton (11-5, 4-0) 6 pm Thursday 1/26
Fullerton 100% on FTs, Ags 29%

I liked Borra’s inside work in the first half. I’d like to see him get more time
  • MBB: Aggies (8-5, 1-1) host Cal State Fullerton (11-5, 4-0) 6 pm Thursday 1/26
30-30 at half. Both teams went ice cold last 5 minutes

I wondered how the portal fit into the transfer equation. This article was enlightening for me and helped me understand this seemingly black box.

    https://www.sportscasting.com/college-football-transfer-portal-explanation/

“ Student-athletes have several options upon entering the portal. They can transfer elsewhere as a scholarship player or as a walk-on. Although they can withdraw from the portal at any time, the team they intended to leave is not required to take them back or keep them on scholarship.”

“ However, the portal is not without its issues. Coaches have criticized the portal itself and the NCAA at large for creating a free agency enviorment. Those in college football, including Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, took issue with the NCAA not adjusting a team’s 25-man signing class limitation even if transfers decimate their program.”

“ The portal has had a severe impact on offseason recruiting. Texas State did not sign a high school player in its 15-man 2021 signing class and instead chose to only add transfers from all levels of college football ranging from the SEC to community colleges.”
  • MBB: Aggies (7-5, 0-1) at CSUN (5-10, 1-2) 7 pm Thursday 1/20
Both the fellas and the ladies suffered with missed FTs last night. But its win win, we’ll take it.
  • WBB: UCSB (8-4, 2-1) at UCD (6-6, 0-2) 6 pm Thursday 1/20
End of the half, 38-22 Ags. Not a perfect half but a solid performance.
  • WBB: UCSB (8-4, 2-1) at UCD (6-6, 0-2) 6 pm Thursday 1/20
19-11 Ags end of first quarter. Hall has the hot hand tonight
  • WBB: UCSB (8-4, 2-1) at UCD (6-6, 0-2) 6 pm Thursday 1/20
The graphic showing the lady Aggies in the bottom of the barrel in league standings is an eye opener. The UC SD loss was a real shame. Time to push the throttle forward.
  • MBB: Aggies (7-5, 0-1) at CSUN (5-10, 1-2) 7 pm Thursday 1/20
I suspect all teams are in the same boat, that is multiple players out on covid protocols.
  • Students to vote on defending ICA?
    ↪72Aggie

After that article is a commentary by a former student whose argument against the fee is “that she never went to games so why should she pay?” I could list a ton of items i don’t use but still have to pay for. But in defense of the students pushing this, education costs are ridiculously high. That really is the bigger issue. When i was in school, you could wait tables and make enough money to pay your tuition. Reform overall education costs and this issue goes away.

I go every year. Its fun with opportunity to visit with coaches and a few players. This year I’m especially interested in what they come up with.
  • 49ers sign Colby Wadman as replacement punter
And tremendous OT win for the niners after being down 17-0.
