• 'Elite' UC Davis mascot ousted, replaced with cow
Current students are not the only stake holders in this vote. Where was the alumni association during this process? When you start counting the contributions that alumni make, they (we) likely are the principles. Can you imagine the uproar from USC alumni if the students changed the mascot to the condoms?

    Yep, missed it. Thanks

I don’t remember seeing Kraut and i don’t see him listed on the spring roster. There were a few TEs that i didn’t recognize, like 6’6” Conway. BTW, Castles (and O’keefe) looked really good.

Yep, he looks like a stud. O’keefe looked like he had filled out as well.

88, they were recording it but i would doubt they would post it for the competition to see.
Edit - they posted some highlights on FB

Went to the scrimmage. I think its hard to read too much into it. All the receivers looked good. There’s a few tall TEs that must be new, as well as a RB i didnt recognize. The QBs all threw good balls. Dixon was more mobile and evasive in the backfield than i remembered. Newman looked to be the most accurate and he has a nice mid range ball. Hastings had some real nice throws with one pick. Faulk threw a tremendous accurate toss from one end of the line to the other. He rolled way over to the right side then tossed the ball to a receiver on the far left side of the line. It was really impressive, but maybe dangerous. Whoever our QB is going to be, lets hope he’s a gamer.
Several players parents were there based on the shirts with players names displayed.

Spring game Saturday 9-11. Might be busy around campus that day, wink.
  • 2022 Roster

It always seems to me that our QBs have less time to get rid of the ball than opposing teams. I wish that stat was available to put an actual number on this. I think it’s available in the nfl.
  • 2022 Roster

Last year Gillium just couldn’t squeak out the yards like he had in the past. I think it had to do with our QB situation. We really need that 1-2 punch, dangerous QB and dangerous RB to keep the Ds on their heals. Not to mention the “O” line injuries. We’re going to need all this coming together to make a run. And I’m getting really tired loosing to J street.
  • Best prep program that also accels at academics

Thanks, good info. There is a basketball training center in Roseville. They go there, but right now he’s also playing baseball and football. My son mentioned the traveling team. The one in Sac is very expensive. Some of those kids are on his Sac area league team. And UCD has a bb camp in June. Unfortunately its during a week when they are traveling. Boy are things different than when i was a kid.

Bunch of buddies got their degree on the GI program. I was 1A when Nixon pulled us out. Arrived at UCD 1 year after you left.
    Thank you for your service.
  • Best prep program that also accels at academics

Yep, he’s been to a bunch. Of course I’m biased, but he is in all honor classes and gets straight A s. My son did one of his graduate degrees at Stanford. He loves UCD, and when he was a kid i dragged him to all the home football games and quite a few bb games. But the grandson at this stage has his goal set on Stanford. I wish i had that level of direction at such a young age.

Thanks guys. Grandson is turning out to be a superb basketball player. He’s been playing the Sac area leagues since 5 or 6. He’s only 11, but my son is trying to research best HS options for him now. Interestingly, he currently is 2” taller than Shaq was at the same age. Most kids his age only reach his shoulders in height, so you can imagine he dominates in the paint.

Thanks. Modesto is a bit of a drive. Granite bay might be too far as well. Too bad Sheldon isn’t rated higher academically.

Aside from his MC role, what does Darius do for a living? Seems like a real talented fella.
  • Contingency plan for smoke?
Movie, i just returned from our escape pad in a remote area of Lassen county. I havent been there since early November in the car (usually fly). The amount of clearing was huge. All the brush and burned trees have been removed along 36. Maybe this management is forced by the fire scars, but I’ve never seen so much activity up there.
  • Bob Dunning: Chump change for selling your soul (Enterprise Article)
On a related note, i saw a commercial from the CA tribes that have gaming, essentially lobbying against Draftkings gaming enterprise presence in CA. I don’t know about the masses, but if i go to an indian casino it’s going to be related to the whole experience, such as a nice meal, concert, and some one armed bandit action. I don’t see online wagering hurting them.
  • Contingency plan for smoke?

Yeah, my farmer friends were lobbying for that reservoir 20 years ago.

72, too bad the UOP stadium isn't an option. But back to the point, I hope athletics is being proactive on possibilities. I suppose one possibility is making smoked out home games “away” games to the opponents stadium.
  • 2022-2024 Aggie Schedules
Looks like tx commerce is a D2 program. I find it strange that we schedule an away game that far across the country with a D2 school.
