• Tough Hawkins Critique

Erase none of Gould's seasons and his record was 10-22, which included two 2 win seasons...abysmal to make comparisons to Hawk's record...and in his big 4th year where his guys are there to turn the corner, the team was terrible, and finished 3-8, but you know, beat Sac so it was a good year. I've always given Gould credit for beating Sac, but that's all he really accomplished...and Taylor wasn't coaching/recruiting there.

Who wants it more, both teams hungry, typically favors the home team. Can either of the defenses get any takeaways? Will Gilliam have the game of his life?...or will he get shut down as he's the guy to be stopped. How will #7 play in white? This is why you play the damn game.
  • Tough Hawkins Critique

I kept reading the Sac State article down below, even Gipson said the replay showed him "clearly" out of bounds on that pivotal late pass play vs. Montana.

When you get wins stacked up and have it going, it's amazing the breaks that come your way.

As for the criticism on Hawk, yeah, it's all absolutely true in terms of winning these games with highly ranked opponents.

However, while the article eludes to the roster building and recruiting by the Gould regime, it doesn't mention the fact that in Year 1, Plough and Hawk went down south and found QB1 Jake Maier at Long Beach City College. He also has found players who have played huge, Buchanan, Perryman - who transferred to Washington and was starting, Castles who transferred in from Cal, good number of 3 star guys on this season's class...among others...so Hawk has found plenty of talent, and has demonstrated an ability to win more games than Gould so I think that's a dumb argument as to the 2018 season. However, let's be clear, Gould's staff went and found Doss, and he was huge in 2018.

This defense would be pretty scary if Perryman was still out there.

They've been playing very well as a unit, I think they've only let one game get away from them and that was in Bozeman, which, should worry fans a bit...as they're playing a strong team on the road again this Saturday. Turnovers, going to need turnovers.

Sac at Portland televised? Considering how lowly that field at Hillsboro is, I doubt it.

Regarding this week's schedule, ALL BIG SKY EYES ARE ON MOSCOW.

Wally The Bronco Too - so damn good with the Big Sky content!

  • Week 11: UC Davis (5-4) @ Idaho (6-3)
Sounds like Eck coming back to Moscow was a little like Hawkins coming back to Davis. Programs were in disarray and underachieving, needed a strong coaching and recruiting presence with ties to the University to help pick it back up.
  • Week 10: Idaho State (1-7) @ UC Davis (4-4)

“As I told them,” ISU coach Charlie Ragle said, “some of you guys are gonna be done because you’re seniors. The rest of you are gonna be done because you’re not playing here anymore.”

    ...

Next weekend, ISU faces a road test against Weber State, which last checked in at No. 5 nationally in the Stats Perform Top 25 rankings. Ragle said he plans on bringing just 45-50 players, which would be far fewer than usual. “If I’m gonna lose,” Ragle said, “I’m gonna lose with guys it matters to.”
