• Sac State to get a New Stadium
I don't want to see the history of the Causeway die, but I fear that Davis just has too much apathy regarding athletics to make a jump happen.

Looks like good things going for Sac
  • 2024 Week 6: UC Davis (4-1) @ Portland State (0-4)
Alright I just got through looking at Portland State's stats for the year and boy howdy are they ugly. Through 4 games Portland State is giving up an average 263.3 rushing yards and 323.75 passing yards per game... yep... that's right... giving up on average almost 600 yards of offense PER GAME. That has been reflected in the final scores as the Vikings have been outscored 90-214 so far this season.

Now, the Vikings offense runs through Senior QB Dante Chachere. He's the definition of a dual threat QB as he's completed 55/95 passing attempts (57.89%) for 668 yards with 3 TDs and 3 INTs. He's added 50 rushing attempts for 262 yards and 5 TDs. If the Aggie defense contains Chacere, then this game is over. Point blank.

The Vikings are also getting offensive contributions from RB Quncy Craig who has 41 rushing attempts for 254 yards and 1 TD as well as 17 receptions for 90 yards and 2 TDs, WR Eric Denham who has 10 receptions for 176 yards and 1 TD, and WR Branden Alvarez with 10 receptions for 137 yards and 2 TDs.

I usually try to highlight guys on defense too, but there's not too much to highlight when you're giving up 500+ yards and 50+ points per game while only forcing 2 turnovers on the year. I mean, heck, they've only gotten 2 sacks on the year. It's been pretty dang bleak for the Viking defense. Now I will say that they've played both Washington State and Boise State who are having excellent seasons so far, but they've also been throttled by a 2-3 Weber State and 1-3 Chattanooga. I want to see the Aggie offense really get rolling and drop 40+ on them.

Massey giving the Aggies a 72% chance of winning for what it's worth.
  • Sac State to get a New Stadium
Right, I'm not so much saying specifics. Like Sac hasn't made specific claims about what conference they may be trying to move up to, but they've made it pretty damn clear they're trying to move up.

If we're trying it'd be nice to know. Go public and try to get investments going otherwise don't tease us with ambiguous tweets.
  • Sac State to get a New Stadium
I wish we'd just hear something definitive from the AD. The stadium tweet and then nothing.
  • Sac State to get a New Stadium
I think you guys have the inside lane on this. Literally the only thing we have is like 1 tweet from our AD saying "wouldn't a stadium expansion be neat?" There's nothing concrete on our end.
  • New UC Davis Football Podcast
I don't really have any questions, but I think the interview with Miles will be good. I think I'm personally guilty of dehumanizing the guy in the helmet. I've been very critical of Miles in the past, but I think it's important to note that I want him to succeed despite criticisms. He played a heck of a game against Idaho and I'm interested in hearing his story.

We can't look past Portland State because they will have some tricks up their sleeves... They might be bringing bubonic plague or polio to the table this week.

  • Sac State to get a New Stadium
Yep, that's why I don't fully buy the "build it and they will come" argument in terms of stadium expansion and moving up to FBS. The stadium would end up being full... full of fans from the opposing team who would certainly know how to make bring the noise. I brought this up earlier that I'm not really sure you can really change the culture that much in a short amount of time.
  • 2024 Week 5: Idaho (3-1) @ UC Davis (3-1)
    Things that went well:
    - Credit where credit is due, Miles Hastings had a truly tremendous game. Completed 25/32 (78.13%) for 248 yards and 3 TDs with NO INTERCEPTIONS against a very good defense. The only thing I really didn't like was that he stared down a sack or 2, but that's not the story of the day. Miles absolutely killed it and had complete command of the offense.
    - Red zone offense was impactful. Not having to settle for field goals every single drive was nice!
    - Defense is continuing to force turnovers. Most of the picks were just bad throws from the Idaho QBs and not necessarily hyper athletic plays from our DBs, but turnovers are turnovers.
    - A WIN OVER THE #4 TEAM IN THE COUNTRY!

Things that need to be improved:
    - Pass defense needs some work. Now this could be multi-factorial in the fact that we weren't getting a ton of pressure on their QBs especially in the 1st half, but the biggest thing was our DBs were just playing like 10+ yards off the receiver. Just too many easy easy completions for the Vandals.
    - Offensive line is still not doing the work to get the run game going. Lan Larison is amazing, but this line just isn't giving him the opportunities which has been a running theme throughout the season.
    - Play calling and coaching directly handed Idaho a lifeline to get back into the game in the 4th quarter. This game was over... OVER... if you knock in a FG and go up 14 and instead we had to nail bite through a 2 point conversion and an onside kick attempt. I'm willing to give Plough some leeway as a first time HC, but that play calling in the 4th quarter was unacceptable.
    - Containing QBs that can run continues to be somewhat of a problem for us. Now I know we weren't really preparing for Josifek to be playing, but his legs got the Vandals several 1st downs keeping them alive.
    - Averaged 35.4 yards per punt... woof

    GO AGS!
