• 2025 MBB Recruiting and Transfers
Pablo Tamba has entered the portal as a grad transfer
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
Now others may disagree including fans of Sac State, but this seems like a fairly big loss for them considering how much Pac12 or bust chatter there was. I mean, congrats to them for making the jump to FBS since that was such a large goal of Dr. Woods, but I would definitely have some concerns if I were a fan of that program.

Wait... Is this an April Fools joke? Got me good hahaha
  • UC Davis, Sac State to share new $450M football stadium in West Sacramento
Link appears to be dead as of right now, but my initial reaction is that I'm not a huge fan. If the Aggies are looking to go the Mountain West then a stadium upgrade is surely needed, but I don't like it being so far away from campus. We already have trouble getting students to home games and now we're telling that they have to travel to see their own team play? Also, I just don't really want to share anything with Sac State, but that's just my opinion.

I think Les really has to go after guys like Jones Jr. if we are going to be competitive in the MW going forward. Very highly rated player coming out of high school, but only got limited minutes as a freshman. If playtime is what he is after he would almost certainly get it at Davis. That being said if NIL and post season asperations are what he wants, it will be tough to compete against schools like Texas Tech.
  • Looking forward to 2025
Regardless of who ends up being our starting QB, they will have a lot more mobility to their game which opens up parts of a playbook that just weren't in MH's wheelhouse.

Sangster and Mani in the portal per verbal commits. We really do have a hard time keeping anything but guards on the roster.
  • MBB Discussion: Your Thoughts about the Status of MBB Now and Going Forward
I should have been more clear on my point. I wasn't so much talking about location. Yes, places like La Jolla are probably more appealing in a general sense than Davis. I was more talking about academic restrictions in terms of recruiting. I have to imaging that Davis, San Diego, Riverside, and Irvine all have relatively similar academic requirements for their athletes... definitely more rigorous than Long Beach, Bakersfield, Fullerton, etc. All that being said, the other UCs feel like they are gapping us in terms of success.
  • MBB Discussion: Your Thoughts about the Status of MBB Now and Going Forward
It seems like the program has hit a wall under Les. I would argue that we've really only had 1 elite season in Les' tenure (14-15 despite it not being the season we made the tournament) with a couple of additional solid seasons, but outside of that results have been fairly mediocre. It shouldn't be any harder to recruit to Davis than the other UCs in the Big West, but whatever the case we are going to have to step our game up with moving to the MW where we have the possibility of being basement dwellers if things don't change trajectory.

I don't know if Les is the right or wrong guy leading us forward, but when you look at the overall resume to date... it's really not that impressive. He seems like a really good guy though.
  • Future MW Additions
I think the conference will likely be set for a little bit once we (presumably) move our football over as well. That being said, the name of the game appears to be expanding TV markets above geographic/regional logic, so for all I know they could be looking to add a Florida market.
  • Top Games from 2000-today
Of games that I've personally been to I think the Stanford game has to rank overall #1, but there have been a lot of great ones over the years.

He's listed at 6'6 340. That's a big boy! Picked the Aggies over offers from New Mexico, New Mexico State, Sac State, and Coastal Carolina! GO AGS!

I personally like the berms. I think it's kind of a unique feature to the stadium and it's a good place for families with little ones. I'd rather them build up from the bowl than fill in the ends.
  • UC Davis Athletics Joining Mountain West - Football to Follow
Right, I mean... it's just been almost 20 years since Aggie Stadium opened. That's a long time between phase 1 and phase 2 and plans can change. I just want it to look good.
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
Same guy who "confirmed" the Aggies to become full MWC members says Sac to the reformed Pac12

  • UC Davis Athletics Joining Mountain West - Football to Follow
Awesome if true though I think a lot of us we're calling this move already. It will be interesting to see how the stadium is expanded with the existing structures in place. I just hope it looks cohesive. It always looks kind of tacky when a stadium gets built in phases but the phases each look like a completely different style of stadium.

Great episode with Hunter. What an interesting kid. I know I was definitely not as well adjusted psychologically or philosophically at his age lol.
