Posted this on AGS the other day but updated for this year, starting in 2018 (and excluding 2020) seeded teams are 43-5 coming off the bye. Three years at 8-0, two at 7-1 and one at 5-3. The first 5 years of the 24 team playoff, the seeded teams were 27-13.

Very happy with the offense. Defense will need to pick it up next week. On another day, we give up a lot more than 10 points. Was good to see South Dakota struggle a bit.

Going to be tough but next week is winnable.

I think he got there but we shouldn’t have let them pick that up. Should have been stopped a couple yards short.

Hastings got lucky on that pass. Should have just thrown it away. Last thing we need now is turnovers giving them good field position.

I might have kicked a FG there to make it a 2 score game but I understand going for it on 4th and short.

1st and 20 and they give up 3 straight big gains. Hopefully we can keep them to 3.

Tarleton St was driving and in SD territory but just threw a pick with 7 minutes left.

Pretty happy overall. Illinois St gets the ball to start the second half so if we can limit them to 3 or 0, that would be great. Don’t need to give them any hope.

One drive but the defense is playing like they did against Sac so far.

Hopefully we can take after Montana St and South Dakota St who are both up 3 scores.

That’s true, though I do think if you had those three weapons, they’re going to get close to their current numbers. Larison might not have the receiving yards he does this year if Doss is on the team in place of any of our WRs. But Doss isn’t taking any carries away from Larison and Larison isn’t taking many receptions from Doss. I think the offensive stats would likely be a combination of the two years. The rushing yards would be more consolidated with Larison (as opposed to being more spread out in 2018) and the receiving stats would be more top heavy as well, as opposed to what we have this year. And I think Larison might even have better rushing stats as teams had to worry about a borderline NFL caliber WR out there.

If Larison was a WR, then yes, unless you’re running an Air Raid system where the QB throws 55 times per game, someone’s stats are going to suffer. But having Doss, Harrell and Larison with a either of the two QBs and a coach who knows what he’s doing, you’re going to end up with a FCS version of the 99 Rams with Bruce, Holt and Faulk or the Manning Colts with Harrison, Wayne and James.

Fun to think about and discuss, at the very least.
