Did i hear Brock predict Portland State by 10?
  • Pac-12 set to add Boise, 3 other MW schools

"The Mountain West is having serious discussions with FCS Tarleton State?!?!

    WTF!?"

that was the reaction of everybody in the Sac12 that pledged $35M for NIL!

I've lost track.....we're up the to the Pac7? So, they need a minimum one more for the NCAA, and 2 for better football scheduling? I believe that Boise, Colorado State and Utah State don't play baseball, so the P4 baseball conference should be interesting.

Fans will be lining up to watch University of Texas El Intercepted Paso come to town!!
  • Sac State to get a New Stadium
Only in the state capital can you pledge to spend $40M not knowing what the product is nor the customer!

This isn’t a knock on Sac. I just don’t see how this is a sustainable model for anyone outside the power 4 conferences. I can’t imagine substantial TV money coming to either the MWC or PACX. Its just a mess

I agree it was smaller than UT, but the reported from is 60% of that crowd.

The west side hasn’t been highly populated all season. Many game to game fill ins with parents or just people buying online. Part of the problem is that random fans rush down and yell in our ears ‘why didn’t we kick the damned field goal?!?!’. We need tighter security (that was you, correct?)
  • 2024 Week 5: Idaho (3-1) @ UC Davis (3-1)
okay, I need help with the reported attendence so anyone who has been to all home games weigh in.

    TAMC : 8743
    Utah Tech : 14832
    Idaho: 8921

There is no way there were 6000 less there Saturday compared to Utah Tech. East side was similarly full, grass similar, west side had more pockets of empty. But 6000? My guess would have been around 11000 and that the 14832 was a generous upcount with the orientation kids. So a pretty good crowd, not great.

And there is NO WAY there were only 200 more than TAMC. Something is screwy.

The coach who got the unsportsmanlike for running into the end zone on the 2pointer - don’t ever do that!

I’m a weird way, not faking that FG might have saved us. We could have been up 14; they’d have to go for TD instead of FG, and at that point I wouldn’t have bet against it. Then a PAT ties and we’re in OT. And I’m not liking our odds there
  • Sac State to get a New Stadium
i believe the price tag was closer to $60M, with UCD Medical picking up 1/2. Edwards family paid a big chunk of the remaining $30M

they don’t have a football team
  • 2024 Week 5: Idaho (3-1) @ UC Davis (3-1)
this game feels alot like the Montana game from last year. They were coming in 4-1, vs our 3-2. We had lost to EWU two games before (losing Lan in the game) and nobody was giving us a chance. Miles rose up and had a very good game, Fisher was solid and we had them for the taking (85 yard run and a late fumble right near the goal line doomed us). Idaho's defense sounds REALLY good, especially the front line. We'll have to take advantage of some mismatches, convert on 3rd downs and avoid the sacks that these guys have feasted on. I think the defense (starters all back) will shut them down if we can avoid the PI's and long passes. Should be fun!
  • Sac State to get a New Stadium
agree that 85 possible. But even the addition of 40+ scholarships (men/women) is about a $5M increase, I’d guess. Maybe TV money covers that?

If the Pac12 is serious about bring a contender in the power conferences it would seem they’d have to push for the 103 to compete with the ‘haves’ of the SEC and Big10. What a mess
  • Sac State to get a New Stadium
might explain why Boise St and Colorado St have no baseball. Pac12 is pretty sparse in terms of baseball schools
  • Sac State to get a New Stadium
I’m trying to figure out what women’s sports we could possibly add to absorb that increase in scholarships. I think most FBS schools have nowhere near our 26 sports. There’s a reason we have equestrian and field hockey - have to balance title 9. I’m not sure how any FBS school is going to deal with 20 more women’s spots (granted scholarship limit for softball is jumping from 10 to 30). We’d be making a jump of 40 scholarships on each side
  • Football crowd participation ideas
I’m pretty sure the students sang the fight song during the band’s pregame
  • Sac State to get a New Stadium
i don't see any mention of how they plan to accomodate a jump from 63 to 103 football scholarships and the corresponding jump in women's scholarships
  • 2024 Week 5: Idaho (3-1) @ UC Davis (3-1)
with the running of the first years, there will be a big crowd to start. they stuck around last week, so hopefully that continues. They were loud initially when we got the near pick-6 followed by a quick TD. Seemed like the redzone stalls sucked the energy out of them.

stadium folk need to figure out how to get them in the stadium quickly. when i walked in about 10 minutes prior to kickoff, there was a LOOOOOOONG line of students waiting to get in.

‘ UNLV quarterback Matthew Sluka has decided to sit out the rest of his undefeated team’s season because of a dispute over a $100,000 NIL payment that was promised but never paid after he agreed to transfer to the Rebels last winter, Sluka’s agent told The Associated Press on Wednesday.’

By sitting after 3 games, he didn’t burn a year of eligibility. Welcome to the new, improved college football landscape!
  • Pac-12 set to add Boise, 3 other MW schools
I guess my educated answer is ‘who knows’. I was thinking a move to FBS requires an addition of 22 football scholarships ( and a similar add/drop of womens/men’s due to title 9) BUT I forget they are changing the limit to UP TO 105 next year. There’s also increases in basketball (2), baseball (+20!), and softball (+20). I would assume only the power 4 try to hit those limits.

For a football playing school in the Big West, that change in baseball scholarships could really have a negative impact.
