Vegas doesn’t like our chances - 12.5 point underdogs. Very tough matchup. I think I’d like to see Poly, Bako, Beach and Fullerton lose as expected to keep them below us (plus we have 2 win tiebreaker over UCSB)

we did have a TO; we used it after they hit the 3. By a guy who was scoreless up to that point!

I'm a big fan of Tillis. Just a real solid player. Not a tremendous athlete (a little pudgy, kind of a sleepy-eyed look), but he just seems to make big plays for them when they need it. It seems like he's been at Irvine forever.

i was telling my wife last night we really wanted LBSU to lose to make sure we get in the top 8, especially since the Beach already owns a victory over us.

That loss last night hurt considering the games we have left (2 vs Irvine, 2 vs UCSD, and this road gauntlet). i'd be feeling much better at 7-3 vs 6-4.

he was on the court at the end, right? I thought that’s who TY was throwing to

    he’s got a nice stroke.

Gotta stop their 3’s from the stretch. Up 56-55 4:00 to go. Not many fouls being called

Finished on a run to end the half up 26-24. 1-11 from 3. Yikes

Defensive battle; 20-20 4:00 to go.

BTW - this might be the best announcing crew in the conference. Very knowledgeable

We’ve gotten sloppy and TY is ice cold; down 17-16 with 6:00 to go

10-5 with 12 to go. Offensive glow has been bad the past few trips. Seems like we more stagnant with Chappell in there

Good start up 8-1 at first break. Defense leading the way. Got to keep them off the boards

I just read that the new contract calls for 4 ESPN/ESPN2 games each season, with 2 on Friday nights.

we have a deal with ESPN+ for both Big Sky and Big West, and one with Spectra for football. I haven't been able to find the actual amount of either of those two. As you said, I'm sure its peanuts compared to the MWC contract (hell, we might have to PAY for the PRIVILEGE of having the Montana folk televise our games!)

i agree with the Big West Banter - Magpayo is a really good coach, and has brought a great deal of stability to a program that has floundered for many years prior to his arrival (look at their BWC record the 20 years before he came). they play smart, tough basketball which tends to mirror our approach. we beat them up last year by 20 down there, but they came back up north to beat us in a close one (one point game with 2:00 to go). we will be challanged again by their size inside.

Poly beats Beach 78-67 to break their conference losing streak. How the heck did the Beach shoot 65% from the arc to beat us? That one hopefully doesn’t hurt us down the stretch
  • Is there any Recruit news?
I watched Stokes play last night. 6’5 muscular kid. Scored the bulk of his point on strong drives to the hoop, but he had a really nice mid range jump shot (although it wasn’t dropping). Solid on defense and worked hard on the boards.

Jim Les made the drive down to watch him in person.

Felt like we should have won that one more comfortably. First half, they were 3-13 from the Arc and all three were buzzer beaters (2 launched from downtown, one off the backboard). The fouls and their FT shooting kept them in it. Also, their dominance on the offensive boards. We really need someone to step up and help Rocek down low. Mani seems lost in there, and Chappell doesn’t quite have the size. Of all the pieces we lost last season, Adebayo may be the toughest one to fill.

Cooper I believe hurt his thigh late in the first half di that limited him. Maybe we’ll see more from Robeson down the stretch.

that was surprising. I had the same sinking feeling when he got the ‘T’ (did that ball ever come down?)

Clutch play down the stretch but some not so great FT shooting else it wouldn’t have come down to their harrowing sequence at the end.

I thought the refs called way too many fouls in the second half on both sides.

Decent crowd of 1500 - for some reason, nobody shows up until game time!
