the more I see from the portal, the less I understand. Weird choice.

I've been pleading for them to move the Team Aggie/Champion Aggie tailgate area over to the 'Tailgate Town' on Biggs field. At least, we'd be near the rest of the folk tailgating and whoever is hosting tailgate at the Town. But, that doesn't seem like it will ever happen. Too many of the older supporters don't want to walk over from Lot 56 to Tailgate Town....even when they provide golf carts for travel to that area.

But, many of them look like Usain Bolt when they open up the halftime hospitality just below the scoreboard!

this is the 1979 Football program....so....we only have ourselves (well, the SID from 50 years ago) to blame!

I think a problem with this concept is that the vast majority of our rich donors never attended a sporting event while on campus and, therefore, aren’t liable to donate significantly.

I’m not terribly worried YET that we haven’t announced any signees (Wilson and Fagbemi were announced mid-May last year) since it seems to be department policy to hold off until all t’s are crossed on acceptance. I am a bit surprised none of our transfers have a destination yet. I don’t follow social so no clue if they are announcing schools interested in them. Who knows, maybe one or two stick?

similar to last year when you look at the roster. If my math is right, we had 5 returners this year

    Daugherty
    Sevilla
    Rocek
    Chappell
    Cooper

And Rocek was a surprise. Did I miss anyone?

I’m guessing this is the standard payout for getting a home-only series, but that we more than make it up for going on the road to P4 teams.

This decision of Les’ future reminds me of the calls to fire Biggs way back. He was also way underfunded (we were nowhere near our scholarship limit) but managed to compete well. Brought in someone without changing the finances and it was a disaster. We’re now competing in a world with UNR, UNLV, UNM who have bigger sponsor bases, WAY bigger attendees figures and have been getting TV/tournament revenues - it’s gonna be a struggle to bring in and keep players for some time.

Just looking at the Big West and Mountain West tabs on the portal page is sad:

this is kinda concerning about Omer and his brother. UNM lost something like 8 guys, added 3, so there’s openings.

seriously? If that’s your criteria, about 2/3 of the MWC coaches would be hitting the bricks with him.

Presumably, our payment for being a MWC team playing a P4 team will be higher. It’s a give and take.

I think 350 is a safe bet at this point. Could raise $200k by the end of the day.
  • Aggie Give Day - Donate to Football
We’re at 196 donors for roughly $64k - and give day officially starts tomorrow.

they are no longer in Winters, correct? Looks like they have several Sac locations now (also Folsom and Rocklin).

This was in my email today from football. There’s a hype video from athletics on FB. As I was saying, they tend to push harder as actual Give ‘Day’ approaches.

If Plough hyped it at spring game with scoreboard QRC, we’ll get a big push there.

great rundown. I was there and didn’t see much of this. I was down on the field and have a hard time picking up the details from there.

Plough is very excited about special teams especially having a dedicated coach with new ideas. Couple that with talented kickers and I don’t think we will repeat last years’s performances.

Also, Matteo Perez is out there. He was in the same situation as the Connors (should be finalized with NCAA very soon), so that’s a valuable backup.
