Another Hawk cast up today. Looks like nearly 2 hours. These are very interesting; guests have been completely outside the football world. I’ll listen on my walks the next couple days. Davis professor, Holocaust survivor. Not your basic coach’s show!

I’ll send mine in as soon as I see my first pension check on May 1. I already made a sizable dent in my team Aggie contribution on give day

thats odd about Fullerton. I figured all the CSU’s and UC’s would be jointly announced based on state government input. What if they end up being the only Big West school to cancel?

As for the Big Sky, I figure the 5 western schools will act the same; as for the mountain states, who knows.

I wonder when the program will announce Anigwe; Pehka was announced today
  • Aggie Overtime Podcasts
I subscribed during football so I could download the coach’s show and occasional countdown to kickoff. Listen to the EVO broadcasts just to hear what people’s experiences have been. Hawk’s hour long podcast with the mountain climbing couple was great. Interesting and some tidbits that we can use during this period. Marsh’s interviews were both good. Hawk said he has some more interesting people lined up. Should be good entertainment. He’s very passionate about this

We’ve been at our best when we had a solid post player (Adenrele, Goode) who were very good team defenders, solid rebounders, could pass and score when fed on the pick and roll. The way we defend, with the hard double team up high and rolling back into the key, really puts a premium on a big with good footwork. Hope we found a couple

Right now, way too little data to make long term predictions.

In the zoom call I ‘attended’, I thought I heard Les say something about the NLI period which kicked off last Wednesday was extended to August. Not sure what that meant. Maybe just that signing will be coming more slowly this year. I don’t follow it outside of Davis, so I’m not sure if there has been a dearth of announcements.
  • Give Day for Aggie Football
By the way, there is a picnic weekend sale at the online bookstore. 30% off, free shipping on order over $75. I picked up a couple things with the new logo. There’s some steals on shirts with limited sizes (under $10)
  • Give Day for Aggie Football
that’s a good way to do it; wish I would have thought of that!

I suspect the Challanges are fulfilled even if the required donor number isn’t met.
  • Picnic Day
Think how much we’ll appreciate Picnic Day next year!
  • Give Day for Aggie Football
I suspect the numbers will be significantly down ; lots of distractions. Of course, football numbers have never been that great in the past. Besides football there are emergency funds for students and student-athletes.

I was on a zoom conference call that included Les. Sounds like we’ll hear another signing this week. I don’t think he was referring to Hoglund, but we’ll see

scholarships and salaries are a big expenditure and those are still there. For the big conferences like the SEC and Big 10 that have huge TV money, the hit might be milder (unless the networks have some bail out clause) but for everyone else this is already a big hit.

The tailgate and run sounds like Brewfest!
  • San Jose game out?
it is a dump. Last season they blocked off the entire side of the stadium on the press box side in preparation for work on an athletics performance center, so things must have been a little cozier. Capacity went from 30k to 21k. Articles say an ‘unspecified number of seats’ will be restored when project is complete in (original plan) 2023.
  • San Jose game out?
the Bay Area reports tend to be long term speculation. With the big Sky covering so many states, two hit hard,a couple seeming to ignore it, it will be interesting to see how they deal with things. I suspect it will be determined by the NCAA

Williams was before my time so only saw him on highlight reels. Big and strong, don’t know about his speed. Merrill was a very powerful guy, had the bull rush. Rick Mohr was similar.

I didn’t see Robby Flannery ( my off the radar period) but he’s a hall of famer.

Glenn Fricker is still the career and single season record holder. That was 84! Tom Williams was probably before sacks were official but he was really good. Mason Moe was a disruptive player.
