I looked at our 1980 roster and we had about 10 guys from LA, 2 from San Diego, 3 from Bakersfield and 10-12 from the Bay Area/San Jose area. A lot of guys from the i80 corridor. They hit the road occasionally and crammed as many schools as possible in a day.

i believe you can play immediately. there's some rumbling out there that he is joining his brother at USF, but he's not on the roster there. mysterious.

not on the roster and a newcomer has #5. No news out there

I got the name from an old Aggie article detailing the lawsuit and trial.
  • 2023 Recruits?
I’m not thinking it looks good for Beasley’s return since one of the new guys has jersey #5.
  • 2023 Recruits?
I vaguely remember last year one of the returners not being listed on the roster but was there come fall. Might be a summer school thing….have to get a few units before being eligible. Hate to speculate. He was one of my favorites last season

back in the ‘old’ days a bunch of guys did. From my days. John Lucido and Brian Buckley played. But that was before football spring ball, and the longer baseball schedules.

Football/basketball is possible but there would be trade offs since schedules overlap especially with bowls in FBS. Charlie Ward did it at FSU. Tony Gonzalez at Cal.

he was a QB at Colorado. Looks like he was a high school basketball player with interest in joining the BB team there

beats me. Didn’t play beyond that one frosh game. Article says campus settled for $1.3M. His lawyers claimed inadequate time and training on tackling prior to playing their first game. I was a frosh in 79 and can’t remember it happening back then; I think one of the team members brought it up at a recent gathering

lawsuit was for a guy named Brent Goss injured in 1980 v Gavillan. I found an article in the old Aggie newspaper archives.

I think that was a year or two after I played frosh but can’t recall the name. This just came up in a conversation with a couple guys

I believe so. Remember last year their commercial flight hit a bird and had an emergency landing

I think all but O’Brien coached here. Hawk, Pete and Bellotti were all frosh head coaches.

can add Nate Hackett and Evero to that list also

There are some lesser names like Sam Young (Modesto JC) and Jeff Ramsey (Oberlin, Case Western). Kevin Daft has made a mark at Dartmouth as an OC.
