• UC Davis Athletics Joining Mountain West - Football to Follow
I’d love to make the move to MWC but the reality is we are years behind NDSU (and the Montsn’s) to be in that position. Someone brought up their revenue of around $30M - what’s ours? We average probably 8000 paying customers to there, what, 15000. And they bring in a ton with their suites.

Another issue, I believe, is the number of sports we’re hoisting. We have 24 vs 14 at NDSU. They gives them much more ability to focus cash on football.

I also read their ATHLETIC endowment is over $110M - that’s the only endowment that matters. Dont know ours, but if it eclipsed $100M we’d have heard about it. Our Ascent program allegedly has something like $250M committed…but that’s just for facilities.

it was comical. Turner was irate, flailing his arms yelling ‘what did I do? What the f—- did I do!’ over and over. Pasternik, all 140 LBs of him, wanders up to half court to poke his nose into it. It then looked like an Irvine coach said something to him at which point he went nuts. He COULD have charged the Irvine coach but kind of let his assistants surround him and keep him from an altercation. It did earn him a T

this new lineup is 3-0 so, like the Tahoe blue, we’ll see that group until we lose. I’d like to see Cooper in place of Daugherty as a starter keeping Stokes in the lineup.

I just turned it on with SB up 18 - Turner got two T’s, snd Pasternik got one while Turner was yelling at the refs. Pasternik had to be restrained by his many assistants - comical.

agree with all your points especially Cooper. I think his okay of Niko was all about matchups. Remember he sat out the entire game down there

in this day and age, you worry that a guy starts looking for greener pastures if his playing time and role diminishes.

In the words of Tina Turner ‘we don’t do anything nice and easy’

Wilson and Sevilla were big on offense down the stretch but our defense and tenacity on the boards win this one.

Stokes brings a lot of that tenacity - often stretching the rules a wee bit!

We really need to get Cooper back in a groove. He looks really gunshy with the ball. A rebirth there will be big in these last few games

22-21 at the half. Not pretty. It was 47-38 last time we played each other

I think shooting 1-12 from 3 and getting killed on the offensive boards will do that!

I don’t get our crowd - they show up 10-15 after the game starts. Getting into the parking lot can be a chore, but plan ahead.

Down 22-17 with 3 to go. Feels like we should be down 15 or so

Lazy turnovers, giving up offensive rebounds and cold shooting….thankfully only down 12-10 with 11 to go.

Surprised at the crowd. I was talking to someone in ticket office Thursday who implied an expected good turnout. And nobody in the ‘barn’

Oddsmakers have us at 5.5 point favorites (looked like it started at 6.5). One site has its simulated games show us with about 80% chance of winning with a score of something like 84-76. I hope we can hold them to under 80 and score like the first half down there.

Should be a decent size crowd today. Hope the football team is in the ‘barn’ again

I worry a bit about Sevilla’s lingering leg issues. It didn’t look like an ankle thing last night - prior to the injury, he had his thighs wrapped in some type of warming sleeves. Talking to his dad a couple weeks ago, he said many if his issues are due to hydration - coaches can’t keep his out of the gym and weight room and he doesn’t always make sure he takes care of himself. Kind of explains how he went from walk-on to starter who averages double figures!

is Pasternik that animated every game or do we bring out the worst in him? At first, I thought we was yelling nonstop at players, but it looked like he was venting his frustrations on the coaches. Just wouldn’t stop!

If I’m a betting man, I’d put CSUN in the top 4. They are hitting their stride, especially on offense

you’re right about the quick hands - they got two steals in a row leading to fast break buckets that stretch a thin lead into something more comfortable. Defense also shut down Methany over the last 10 minutes or so after he had hit 3 3’s.

Chappell was much better off the bench today; Copper’s fast 2 fouls limited him. I think Les likes Stokes out there for his physical play on defense and around the boards - keep the opponent from getting a quick start. That will be critical Saturday since Poly has been approaching the 100 point mark with regularity.

Football players in the ‘barn’ brought a lot of energy….didn’t rub off on the good size student section! Need a Darius to amp them up.

Pasternik’s antics in the first half were crazy. Yelling at his coaches, throwing clipboards and, I think, engaging with gestures at the barn. We bring out the worst in him (like we do with Turner). I found myself watching him instead of the game!

my former teammate who often uses a seat of mine spent the entire season screaming ‘kick it out of bounds!’. Giving them the ball at the 35 seemed like a good strategy

i think we need to see Cooper back in the starting lineup, Chappell also. They don't look as comfortable off the bench, where Daugherty seems to be able to bring instant offense within minutes of getting into the game. I feel like the Stokes/Daugherty lineup was for defense and rebounding, but our offense didn't seem very smooth at the beginning of the half last game.

3.5 point underdogs. We had our best offensive outputs against a real team down on Santa Barbara last time - can the offense repeat, or has the Gaucho defense stepped it up to another level? I think we have to muck this one up kind of like the Irvine game to pull off what would be a HUGE win.

Gauchos really seem to be playing with a ton of confidence now, while we are still not quite playing, in my opinion, up to our potential. I'm not feeling great about this matchup; hoping, Saturday goes better vs Poly (who is also playing much better over this past week). Tough set of home games for sure!
