So, i think my wife and I are coming up for at least the men's game. The Keelhaulers are 3-8 but are scoring 84 points a game, firing up 26 3-pointers a game (33% shooting), but give up nearly 90! Opponents are shooting a bit over 50%. It would be nice to see us come out hot from the field, see TY get some easy baskets to ease the pressure on him, and put up triple digits. Starting the new year on the road at Bako and CSUN is not an easy start, so be nice to see the Aggies play loose and confident.
  • Is there any action on the transfer portal?
They love Ian Simpson who is also back. Gale just didn’t seem to be able to get consistent time with this staff. Wish him well. He was a weapon down field at times

I make as many games as I can when there aren’t family conflicts…..I might have to come up with a conflict to miss this one!

what’s crazy is how quickly they signed guys. Unless the coach was trying to get them to come to Vegas initially

from my storied high school basketball career, I’m very familiar with the dismal performance….not really familiar with the red-hot performance.

It was a sad storied career

favorite stat of the day : 1-15 from 3, and the guy that made it is Rocek!

we did look shellshocked in the first four minutes and never recovered. We lost by 33 to Oregon State - another big team who shot lights out ( at least early today).

Ouch. 39 point loss. Now I see why the gambling sites thought Pepperdine was a good bet!im guessing no Jim Les post game?

you know, when you WANT this to autocorrect, it doesn’t!!

    Glad I brought a chuckle….we need it

If it’s any consolation, Irvine is down 21 to a 3-8 Duquesne!

to add to the problems, when we do force a missed shit they get the rebound!

Hard to have TY, Leo snd Sevilla out there at the same time….they even take advantage when only two are there

Feels like the Oregon St game. They get great matchups underneath on our smaller guys and their big guys are active defensively
  • MBB: UC Davis (7-4, 2-0) at Pepperdine (5-7), Saturday, Dec. 21 at noon
Pepperdine’s size/length is causing us all sorts of problems on both ends. We’re like 3-12 from the floor, they are about 75%

looking at out stats, it’s close to 43% about the same as ours. That 43% is skewed by Oregon State shooting 60% against us. There’s plenty of games where we’re holding teams below 40%. That’s part of the reason I take these early season predictions with a grain of salt.
  • MBB: UC Davis (7-4, 2-0) at Pepperdine (5-7), Saturday, Dec. 21 at noon
This is a funny one. Seems like we’re listed as 1.5 point favorites, but most of the gambling sites that have predictions pick Pepperdine. Mostly due to their scoring ability and the fact that teams are shooting 45% against us.

The ‘Borreo’ jersey is apparently on the injuries list also!

that game last year was a classic. Down 19 late second half, stormed back with defense and great shooting. TY won it at the buzzer.

    Let’s hope for a similar result….just a bit easier!

I’ll see your two cents raise you my two cents. Just common sense says any FCS school couldn’t be ready to compete in 2026 especially with the new scholarship limits (not just football, 15 other sports). Add in the facility needs and seems like a non-starter. Heck, Sac has an ‘interim’ basketball coach - that’s a pretty important sport in the Pac12. Maybe that’s too short term a vision, but a gradual move like ours seems to make much more sense

Is that true? I thought they were speculating he would jump but i didn't think i saw anything definitive. I know the guy who was sharing the spot but got hurt jumped (boy, they are crucifying that kid!), but i must have missed the Conklin post.

Irvine is just always good. Well coached, very disciplined and tough as nails. Remember in 2019 when they had a little run in the tournament and Russell Turner was a hot commodity - until he made a borderline homophobic comment toward an Oregon player. Cost him some big opportunities, and kept Irvine at the top of the conference.
