• WBB: 12/1: Aggies (2-4) vs Nevada (1-4)
Bertsch is 2 points away from being the all time scoring leader in UCD basketball (men’s and women’s)
  • FCS Playoffs Round 2: UNI @ UC Davis
    Let’s go Aggies!!!!
  • MBB 11/29: Northern Arizona (2-2) at UCD (1-6)
WCC is "usually" top heavy with Gonzaga, St. Mary's and sometimes BYU. They appear to be a lot deeper this year. UCI took care of St. Mary's (to drop them to 3-4) the other night.

I would say yes, although I'm not sure we'll see the results in the win/loss record as BGA said. But from a pure basketball standpoint, we are playing a lot better than we did at the start of the season. Most importantly, TJ is back to his POY level, and some of the key pieces seem to have found a better rhythm. John is still way off on his 3 pt shots, and there is certainly room to get better all around, but I'm much more encouraged by the last two outings.

One thing to note, here are the records of the teams we've played so far. It's been a really tough OOC already, and we still have @USC, @Arizona, @LMU, and @NIU left to go.

    USF 7-0
    USD 5-2
    Arkansas 4-1
    TAM-CC 4-3
    UT Arlington 3-4
Suc St 3-1 (including a win against Fullerton)
    Indiana 5-2
    NAU 2-3

Interesting that Siler started the second half on the bench. Mooney started instead. I think les was a little POd with some of Silers defense.

Overall it was how the Ags are going to win this year. Active defense and tj leading the way on offense. Also saw a little glimpse of what we can expect from Fuller

Nice half. A lot more energy on defense than what I’ve seen. And more confidence on offense. Let’s finish strong Ags!!
  • WBB 11/27: Aggies (2-3) at Loyola Marymount (4-1) 12 Noon Tipoff
That's exactly the play. It's emblematic of our play in general this year.

Seems like McKeown would have really helped in this game. Another ball handler and someone who can consistently hit the outside shot. I guess it's an injury that kept her out of the game. Hopefully a mild one.
  • WBB 11/27: Aggies (2-3) at Loyola Marymount (4-1) 12 Noon Tipoff
You're exactly right. Great shooting covers up some basic deficiencies. It's very frustrating watching 3 ags stand around while one opponent gets the rebound. I didn't see much of today's game, but turned it on near the end and saw us force a long 3-ptr (miss) only to have the one Lion in the key get the rebound. Game Over.

I guess the biggest surprise so far this year is the offensive play of Hall. I really thought she'd take over as the 2nd or 3rd option this year (behind Bertsch and Bessolo). That may still happen, as she definitely has the talent, but we are going to struggle until we find another consistent contributors. Kind of reminds me of John on the men's team. Both have the talent, just seem to be "off" so far.

Looks like we aren't handling the pressure very well. Good defense from our side is keeping us in the game.
  • MBB 11/23: Aggies (1-5) at Indiana (4-1)
Thats good to hear. Hopefully we’ll come out strong at home on Thursday.
  • MBB 11/23: Aggies (1-5) at Indiana (4-1)
That’s exactly how I judge these games against a power level team. My son asked yesterday at half time if this would have been our best win against a big name school. It didn’t happen but like you said it looked like we belonged.
  • WBB 11/23: Southern Utah (1-1) at UCD (1-3)
Needed a nice blow out win.
  • WBB 11/23: Southern Utah (1-1) at UCD (1-3)
    Thanks for the updates Russ
  • MBB 11/23: Aggies (1-5) at Indiana (4-1)
Wish I could watch this one. Nice to see us shooting above 50%
  • MBB 11/20: Aggies (1-4) vs Sac State (1-0) at the Golden 1 Center
In the past few years, when we were up with a few minutes left, we'd let guys like Hawkins or Lemar sit on the ball then create a shot or get to the line. TJ and Siler try to do that now, they just couldn't quite get it down last night. We are not going to be blowing too many (any?) people out, so we are going to have to learn how to finish games. There was a spot when we were up by 6 and John missed an open 3, sac st came back and hit a three and sucked all the momentum away.

I like Gonzalez also. As good a shooter as we have, and looks like he works hard on defense.
  • MBB 11/20: Aggies (1-4) vs Sac State (1-0) at the Golden 1 Center
Yep 1-5 heading to 1-6. One of those years that you don’t worry about the record. It’s all about getting ready for the bwt in March.

The lack of offensive production from our big men was glaring last night. A tip in from Russell and a few free throws by Goode is all I can remember. I know we’ll never have huge pt totals from them but you have to have at least the threat to open up some options for the guards.

I did think it was Fullers best game. He got into early foul trouble but he looked more comfortable. Also nice to see Siler get his stroke back.
  • MBB 11/20: Aggies (1-4) vs Sac State (1-0) at the Golden 1 Center
Always look forward to this game. My son and I have gone to the previous years, and since it's held during Thanksgiving break, he's home so we can make this one again. Like BGA said, the Golden 1 is a great facility. We usually try and get there pretty early to walk around and take in the whole atmosphere.

Hopefully the defense shows up for a full game tonight. The offense will come around, but until then, the defense needs to carry us. Go Ags!
  • WBB 11/18: Aggies (0-3) at Washington State (1-2)
I think you’ll see Konrad in the starting lineup for now. She’s got good height, can drive effectively and hit the outside shot when needed. Bertsch looked like she was pressing in the first few games but she was on point today. She has developed a nice 3 pt shot that should give defenses fits. Neither bessalo nor hall are in mid season form. Bessalo needs to not force her shot. When she shoots in rhythm she can be deadly. But she can push way too much. Mckowan looks like she can shoot although I didn’t see her today. Stobbert comes in for bertsch and they have logged some time together. I think we’ll see some good contribution from her when she gets more used to d1 speed.

Overall the team has struggled to come together but today they looked a lot better. They still struggle with turn overs but there’s no doubt they’ll be there near or at there top of the big west.
  • WBB 11/18: Aggies (0-3) at Washington State (1-2)
Good win for the Aggies on the road against a pac-12 team. They had no answer for Bertsch. Ags looked much better overall.
