• Stadium Renovation hopes, fears, expectations
...For FCS its not increased attendance, but a different kind of attendance.

Schools (like EWU, Poly, Davis) deciding to not expand seating capacity, but raise revenue by encouraging a small group of donors to attend by adding "luxury" suites.

It would be great if Davis could do both - suites and seats....but I completely understand the reasoning. Programs like SLO, Davis, Cheney currently don't have the interest to increase capacity by a substantial amount.

FCS is becoming "small" college football....and its getting smaller. Schools are having to get creative to compete (and survive)...with body-bag games, luxury suites, and gimmick hires / publicity stunts.

Stony Brook....sheesh....College football on Long Island, NY ain't cheap.

Budget similarities between NY and CA schools on that list......
Stony Brook attendance record set in 2017 is 12,311. They average around 6,400 over the past couple seasons.

I'm curious about U. of San Diego. It looks like the Athletics total budget was $15 million in 2024 (seems low....student aid not included?).

If I had to guess I'd bet football is a little under Cal Poly's level?

Think about the size of the Montana economy (#47 GDP in 2024). UM and MSU football are pretty big money in that state.

According to the AI fever dream overview I pulled up....UM alone contributes $94 million a year to the local economy. MSU probably less, but a substantial amount to Bozeman's local economy.
Bottom line is their football budgets are justified, for both the schools and their communities. I'm sure those programs are money makers across the board

For Davis, Poly and Sac...its literally just super expensive to have anything in this state.

    Minnesota vs. Rhode Island
    66-0
    Riveraggie
Minnesota beat Northwestern State this season 66-0. Last season they beat Rhode Island 48-0. Looks like Minnesota needs these game too!
  • 2025 Week 5: Southern Utah @ UC Davis
More Dixon! Dude got me out of my chair a couple times @ UW.
  • @ Washington
    BYU 69 PSU 0
    Oregon 59 Montana State 13
    Boise St. 51 Eastern 14
    Utah 63 Cal Poly 9
    Washington 70 Davis 10
    Arizona 48 Weber 3

This is a 60-8 average beatdown for the Big Sky. I'm not sure it warranted a drop in the polls....but it is what it is. More motivation to get better.
  • @ Washington
I'm never going to understand polls.
I would guess if we played #5 Rhode Island this weekend, we'd take it to 'em though.

Sac staying in the top-25 is a stretch.
  • @ Washington
Right, I also excluded New Mexico, who played a close game with Idaho State.

Colorado State and New Mexico are not in the same class as the teams I listed. Davis and Montana State play CSU/UNM team more competitively.

The Big Sky scores I listed just show the huge competitive imbalance between FCS and upper-echelon FBS conferences.....and for Davis (and Poly fans) to not freak out about final scores in these games.
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread

Oh boy............A lot of the comments are about Wood trolling his own team. He needs to chill.
  • @ Washington
Important perspective....Big Sky has been stomped across the board by P4/Boise. This is pretty normal stuff, and doesn't mean there is any issue with Davis. This is just a completely different level of competition. The Montana State and Eastern scores are pretty similar to ours.

    BYU 69 PSU 0
    Oregon 59 Montana State 13
    Boise St. 51 Eastern 14
    Utah 63 Cal Poly 9
    Washington 70 Davis 10
    Arizona 48 Weber 3

Big Sky had some closer contests (still loses) against weaker FBS programs, but again different level.

    On to SUU home opener!

*revised to add the late game @ Arizona!
  • @ Washington
Cleeland in at QB….from Seattle area?
  • @ Washington
Important to remember the other Big Sky vs P5/Boise games looked like this…
  • @ Washington
Wants to work on some stuff?
  • @ Washington
They should work in Dixon more in the second half….for his size alone. He did some really good things
  • @ Washington
so hard to create time and space against this team. But totally agree
  • @ Washington
Did some good things on that drive ….including keeping the ball for a while.

Good for Mitchell Dixon getting in there and mashing around. Love to see the big man.
  • @ Washington
