glad we're experiencing it now with a lot of players seeing time then

CSUS climbed to within 4. They're getting more aggressive on D resulting in Aggie turnovers.
  • 2019-20 WBB
Ags getting a little frustrated I think. 37-27 now with 5:30 left on the half
  • 2019-20 WBB
19-6 with 3:33 left in the first. Ags look pretty good, boy hard to tell when the other team is clearly outmatched

    New court looks amazing

I'm here. They did have the players call season ticket holders inviting them but that was it again.

Trpcic, Bessolo, Stobbart, Toole, and Konrad starting

An apt comparison. I would go so far as to say what we saw was an inferior version of the Gould offense due to less depth and variety at RB and no FB home to block.

Also, I'm concerned that UG is literally the only one running. Do we not even have any FBs or TEs on the roster who can just plunge forward (because that's apparently our only running play)? Or do what UCLA did a few years back and start combing the defense for people who played two ways in high school.

UG is good if you put him in a position to succeed but having him play every snap and run it right at the best D on the conference every other play isn't how you do that. At least he got rest because the offense was almost never on the field.

Obligatory credit to our defense, they were given a near impossible task and still managed to keep the game within reach for three quarters.

I think we do need to talk about Plough actually being on the hot seat. Yeah Weber's defense was good but it felt like there was no attempt to take risks with the play calls or change things up. Think of all the things we used to do that were not present this game:

No double passes (you're telling me Crawford's the only WR who can throw?)
    No fly sweeps
    No wildcat snaps
    No RBs other than Gilliam
    Virtually no long passes

Our favorite play seemed to be to run straight up the gut with our small back and it worked once.

Why WHY DO YOU RUN UP THE MIDDLE FOR ONE ON THIRD AND LONG

You are literally better off spiking the ball because of lower risk and less time runoff
  • WEEK 8: AGGIES @ THUNDERBIRDS
That was hairy. Hard to get a read on whether they were outplaying us or there were stupid mistakes or what just by following the score.

For those keeping track, this season now has more wins than three of Gould's seasons, and with one of the Ags' toughest recent schedules to boot
  • WEEK 8: AGGIES @ THUNDERBIRDS
I'm wondering if elevation and cold are setting in. Cedar City is inherently one of the harder places to play four quarters in compared to the rest of our schedule

just checked the UC website, it looks unchanged from when I was an applicant. 15 required courses with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the courses. If every recruit meets these requirements then that's definitely a filter to ensure that players are at least able to pass the coursework here.
  • WEEK 8: AGGIES @ THUNDERBIRDS
Wish I could; I loved the vistas the one time I was able to go through Cedar City.

As I said on the FCS facebook group, I'm wondering if we'll start hearing stadium expansion talk in the next couple of years. While it's great to have a full house, I do think that UCDHS and the facilities aren't exactly built to host 11k people. I don't think we're anywhere close to needing to double the size or anything, but another 2k seats with more restrooms and concessions would be helpful

There were a lot of games last year too where it felt like we just went flat for a quarter. (Or like the Montana game, where it was the whole first half). I'm glad the guys were able to shake it off and have a pretty good fourth quarter, though it helps when your defense produces a Sportscenter-worthy play out of nowhere.

I think 8 is how we ensure it, 7 is the minimum. Maybe 6 is the hypothetical minimum with extreme chaos in the top 15-25, but 7 would be the baseline on our own merits.

We might have a jaw-dropping list of playoff teams on our schedule when it's all said and done (NDSU, Sac State, Montana State, Montana, Weber, San Diego). If we win 2/3 of Sac, MSU, and Weber then we still have a case to be one of the last four teams in just by SoS.

They said it was. It certainly felt as packed as it's ever been in my memory.

We also cleaned up the offensive penalties tremendously. Helps to be at home for that, but still. Playcalling also seemed at least ok except for that awful 4th down.

I actually feel a little bad about that one. That's a gut-wrenching momentum killer
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
    yes

Though defense is actually playing one of its better games. MASSIVE pick six

10-pt game. We need a score bad
