  • Chima Moneke Suspended Indefinitely
Dang that's a tweet I never expected to read about an Aggie...

My guess based on the evidence that a) it was something that could happen at a hotel b) it seems like the University doesn't exactly know the procedure at the moment and c) that law enforcement does not seem to be involved is that it was weed.

But that's pure conjecture and maybe we'll never hear the full story.
  • MBB 7 pm Thursday: Aggies (14-7 & 5-2) @ (5-16 & 2-5)
Those UCSB games will be huge. I'm not feeling up to doing a complete scenario analysis but if we sweep we're in a pretty strong place to win the conference (even with a random other loss somewhere) provided nobody else down the table wins out.

Man, replacing virtually the whole roster around Chima and still right in contention for the Big West. This program has come a long way.

SB and Hawaii are in OT. Might be a key game to determine tiebreakers down the stretch.

    Good game Aggies!
  • MBB 5 pm Saturday: Aggies (12-6) @ Hawaii
Decent, not great but not bad for a mid-major. The UC Davis page is more active than most colleges and Aggie sports got a lot of posts this past year thanks to MBB, WBB, and Football.

Then during the tourney run UC Davis became a meme on the college basketball page:

Hawaii has the best quality streams if I recall correctly -- I'm glad this is the away game that I finally have time to catch!

Re: the infamous Hawaii game, my understanding from a reddit conversation about it recently think was that a player got T'd for mouthing off to the ref and the crowd got T'd for throwing a little giveaway ball onto the court -- both fouls happened between two Tyler Les free throws which resulted in him making six FTs in a row, which is a little tidbit that's bound to come in handy on a trivia night sometime.

Ags still lost that game actually but the 6 pts caught them up to make the score relatively close.

  • Big West MBB Scores Week #1
That could be so huge down the road. Today went as well as we could have reasonably hoped.
  • Davis gets a semi-pro soccer team; will play at Aggie Stadium in 2018
Sac Republic games are relatively expensive (they charge MLS prices) and sell out pretty much all the time. I could see a niche for a team with much cheaper tickets that markets to families, group packages for youth teams, etc. 11k is not reasonable but maybe 2k-3k is.
  • MBB 7 pm Tuesday: Aggies (7-3) @ Nevada (9-2)
Getting ugly. Shots aren't falling and sloppy play on top of that
  • WBB 4 pm Sunday: Central Florida (6-4) @ the Aggies (9-0)
Mark me down for two and it's going to be Basket Case and Welcome to Paradise in that order.
  • MBB: #20 in Mid Major Poll & #26 in NCAA RPI Ranking
We also have the 10th highest population on the r/collegebasketball imperialism map:

That was mostly from capturing WSU's territory.
  • Writer critiques Cal Poly football
I don't think we're really in a position to critique the choice of offense of a school that has some of Davis's problems (not all of them, but some of them) but has had much more success in recent years. The triple option hasn't been terrible for them, at least not every year, and frankly I don't think SLO will be bursting at the seams with fans the instant they switch anyway. So I can understand a reluctance to get rid of it at least.
  • WBB 1 pm Saturday: Aggies (8-0) @ St Mary's (5-2)
Thanks for the updates! This is how I'm keeping track of the game because I can't watch the steam and don't trust Google's scoreboard
  • William Jessup
Someone on the Big West forum said that exhibition matches may or may not count depending on how the lower-division team counts them. (I don't know if this includes NAIA.) We don't get credit either way but if someone like a D2 team schedules us then they have the option to include it as part of their regular season, and if they do then there's refs, official score, etc.
  • FCS playoffs
    Wow.

This is the first time I've seen JMU play this year but that was some serious poise in the final few minutes
  • No media respect for aggie women
Hype overload? It's an easily defensible statement that this is the best Aggie WBB team ever but that kind of language maybe loses its impact when local media has been talking about how last year's Men's team had the greatest season ever and how Keelan Doss is the best UCD receiver ever, etc

Not a terrible problem to have though...
  • Men’s RPI is 22 in the nation
I'm betting it'll be like last year where 2 or more teams will be contenders right until the final week. Said contenders will probably include the Aggies based on what we're seeing so far.

If I remember right we have an ESPN game opportunity close to the end of the season. (Which we'll probably get based on history.) Imagine if that's the game to clinch the conference title!
  • Men’s RPI is 22 in the nation
Sounds about right. I remember getting excited when we had an RPI of 30 or something one week, but then it fell after conference play started.

Looks like we're just about the top mid-major in RPI. #32 SoS will do that I guess.
  • Men’s RPI is 22 in the nation
Well early updates from the day have our RPI going up to 16-17 so it can't have hurt us too much.

I don't think even in the Hawkins era we had a peak this high. I'm curious if we can finish in the top 100 by the end of the year.
  • Men’s RPI is 22 in the nation
So WSU and Washington will pull our RPI up the whole season because we'll get credit for their pac 12 opponents. And the WCC teams we face will bouy us with Gonzaga and St Mary's.

Man does this setup favor power conferences though. If I'm understanding it right then it's better to get blown out by top teams than beat weaker teams.
