Thanks for the report, G-Man. It's disappointing that we struggle so much with getting the community and especially the students excited about Aggie sports. Attendance has improved for both the men and the women but, as you know, it's nothing like sports in Indiana or the midwest in general.

Coach Les and Coach Gross and their players have done their part to bring an exciting brand of good basketball to UCD. It's a shame that we just can't seem to fill the Pavilion except if ESPN is there and that's very rare. Then the students come out and have a blast but then don't show up much even after that.

Mouisset's highlight video is very impressive. He's everything you'd like to see in a young LB. He's got a nose for the ball and he's a sure tackler with good technique. He is agile and athletic in pass defense, is quick to react and hits with authority. He's got a lot of potential to be very good.

I like the sound of that!

I think 9-2 is very realistic and I wouldn't bet against us at EWU. 9-2 would be magical and 10-1 insanely stupendous!
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
It hasn't yet been posted over on Big Sky TV. I hope it will be up soon since I didn't get to watch it live.

We finally got a home WNIT game last year against Idaho before they sent us on the road to Wyoming, Kansas State and Indiana for 3 games in the span of a week. Brutal!
Indiana won the whole thing and never left their home court. The rich get richer....
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
Maier's ability to keep his cool under pressure, like he was at Montana, is very, very special. He was connecting on passes thrown from awkward positions because of the Montana rush and he just pops up and does it again. Tough as nails and calm as a cucumber...perfect for leading this team...

Well that would SUCK if we were a high seed but got denied a home game. Pisses me off just thinking out it!

MATTHEW FRAASE - UC DAVIS, WEBER, JMU OR TOWSON. WHO DO YOU FEEL THE MOST CONFIDENT IN FOR A 1 OR 2 SEED?

Chase: We talked a little bit about this on the podcast this week. If we're talking specifically about resumes and seeding, I think Weber State has the chance to line up the best resume of any team not based out of Fargo. But I do think the respect level (and the eye test, and the metrics) for JMU probably puts them back in a top-2 seed for the playoffs when it's all said and done.

Sam: Out of that group, I'd say JMU. UC Davis and Weber both have tough games ahead and I think JMU is going to fully understand the implications of the regular-season finale at Towson. When it's all said and done, I think we're looking at NDSU the No. 1 seed and JMU at No. 2.

    COMEBACK SATURDAY

UC Davis scored 46 points in the second half -- unanswered -- to prove it is a big-time FCS playoff threat, knocking off Montana in Missoula in front of one of the biggest on-campus crowds in the FCS this year.

I don't know what else to say -- 46 points in the second half, unanswered. Everybody will just say I'm stealing from Charles Dickens if I call it the Tale of Two Halves, so I won't make a joke about it being that because it would be corny. But I already typed it and UC Davis coach Dan Hawkins is no lemming when it comes to coaching. He does things his own unique way, and it works ... so maybe I can get away with an eccentric description of what just happened. Or maybe I should stop typing before this gets cornier.

OK, enough of that. To see UC Davis down at the half to Montana and to see the Aggies respond like that? My goodness. This team has some serious potential.

So am I. It looks like G-Man was attending with his family. I was hoping to hear about from him but nothing yet.

From a few pics I saw posted on the Aggie Athletics twitter it looked pretty sparse.

  • Gage Gubrud Out For Season
EWU seems to continue to play well despite losing Gubrud so it seems that they are a very deep football team. Of course, they have a tremendous winning tradition going even with the ugliest red field in college football! I think the game at EWU will be at least as tough as the Montana game.

I would actually be thrilled if we made it to a point in the playoffs that we had to play NDSU. What a tremendous opportunity that would be regardless of how formidable the Bison are.

Aggies complete a Dickens of a turnaround to win, 49-21 by Bob Dunning:

It was obvious from the start that the roaring crowd made things difficult for the Aggie offense, which fives times in the first half alone was called for false starts.

Asked if the deafening crowd noise made things difficult for the Aggies, Doss smiled and said simply “yes,” then added, “it was hard to hear anything but the crowd.”

In one frustrating series the Aggies uncharacteristically were called for three unsportsmanlike penalties in a span of less than a minute, including one on the UC Davis bench.
