This sucks! We're the only county in the entire state that is not allowing intercollegiate competition.

A couple of weeks ago, the university and Sisson — after UCD began daily antigen testing for athletes — reached a compromise to allow resumption of workouts. But the ban on games, in or out of the county, remains.

It’s that last part of the protocol that has miffed some Davis basketball fans and has campus officials gnashing their teeth, knowing that Yolo County is the only one in the state with such a rigid no-play-anywhere edict

The Yolo County restrictions affecting the Aggie Basketball Teams are overly excessive. Caution is one thing but this is ridiculous given the small number of individuals involved, the testing available to the players and staff and the safety precautions that they are able to take.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KABC) --California on Wednesday reported a record-breaking 53,711 new cases of COVID-19, the highest number of cases the state has seen in a single day since the pandemic began.

The alarming number of new cases surpasses a record set just three days ago when California recorded 35,729 new cases.

The state now has 1,671,081 cases in total.

Another 293 people died of the virus in the 24-hour period, bringing California's death toll to 21,481, which marks the highest number of deaths in a single day. The state is averaging 163 virus deaths per day, up from 63 just two weeks ago.

Another 14,939 Californians remain hospitalized with the virus and 3,188 patients are in the ICU, both of which break records for the highest number of hospitalizations and intensive care patients to date.
The state's latest COVID-19 data came as the Southern California region's ICU capacity dropped to an alarming .5%.

That's an outstanding article and it underscores how lucky we are to have Les and Nosek at the helm of the Aggies.

It was also good to hear that all the players have been given an extra year of eligibility due to the pandemic. I wonder how this is going to affect recruiting for this year and next?

According to KCRA News the Yolo County Covid Restrictions still allow outdoor dining, retail shops can still allow up to 20% capacity, and gyms and fitness centers are open outdoors with face masks mandatory. So you can still do all of these things but you can't host or travel to a basketball game that doesn't even have any fans in attendance. I don't get it....

Within the new Yolo County Health Officer Order, gatherings of any size are strongly discouraged, and only outdoor gatherings are permitted.

Restaurants and wineries can remain open with outdoor dining, but people sitting at a single table should be from the same household. Tables must also be at least 6 feet apart.

Indoor retail stores, including grocery stores, may remain open, but only at 20% capacity.

Gyms and fitness centers will be allowed to remain open outdoors, but face coverings will be required at all times, with the exception of aquatic activities like swimming.

Any sports are limited to drills and conditioning only, outdoors and with physical distancing.

I think the goal this project is for it to be a state of the art facility for sports medicine that benefits not only Aggie Athletics but also will be available to students and the public for sports medicine related care in association with the UC Davis Health System. I would assume that it will provide opportunities for sports medicine related research at UCD also which would bring further recognition and prestige to the university as well. This is an exciting project.

I would assume that there is a significant cost for the all the the furnishings for offices and meeting rooms and all the medical and training equipment. State of the art sports medicine equipment must be quite expensive.

CBU is becoming a tough basketball program and they have nice facilities. I actually think they would be a good fit for the Big West Conference.

95-62 Final. The Aggie offense got on a roll midway through the second half but, the our defense left a lot to be desired....layup after layup by the Warriors. Rebounding remains a problem as well...Ags 30-29 but gave up 10 offensive rebounds.

47-33 Ags at the half.

Pretty uneven half for the Aggies. The offense seems to be ahead of the defense so far this year. I lost count of how many backdoor cuts and dribble drive layups the Warriors scored. You can be sure that Les will not be happy with that kind of porous defense.

It looks like the Ags won out over a lot of good competition for Rex Connors. He had 15 offers all together including us: Air Force, Army, Colorado State, Eastern Washington, Idaho, Montana, Montana State, Montana Western, Northern Colorado, Navy, Nevada, South Dakota State, UCD, Weber State and a PWO from BYU. That says something about our the reputation of our program!
