I'm not surprised. Welcome to the Boards also.
  • What Will It Take to Keep Pace with the Success of Sac State Now?
I always think it's tough for the players to get dialed in on their shots in such a big arena and such a small crowd. Just something about the vastness of the place when the seats a mostly empty that changes the depth perception of the shooters. Maybe driving to the basket is the best way to deal with it!
  • Week 12: UC Davis (6-4) at Sac State (10-0)
Castles, Gilliam and King all went out with injuries. I don't think any of them returned.

My wife and I will be there. It would be great to sweep both the women's and the men's game.

I can't wait to for the game next year in our house.

Not too soft or you'll get dinged for strength of schedule.

Sac State - weaker FBS, middle FCS, weaker FCS
Montana State - stronger FBS, 2 weaker FCS
Idaho - 2 FBS, weaker FCS
UC Davis - strong FBS, strong FCS, weaker FCS
Griz - 1 moderate FCS, 2 weaker FCS

Generally in the Big Sky, you're getting risky if you schedule more than 1 tough OOC game. But it depends on who's on your conference schedule - UC Davis played the 4 top Big Sky teams; MSU only had to play 3. Add in that when you're scheduling a team is usually years ahead, so who knows whether they'll be tough or cupcakes by then.

It also depends on your conference - MVFC might get enough schedule strength from just conference games, other conferences might need to be more aggressive in their OOC schedule

This Sac fan believes that we will never beat them again as long as Taylor is their coach:

Another Causeway win, and similarly to the 2019, we got to enjoy their trickery and gimmicks backfiring in our favor. A double pass that went nowhere, multiple wide receiver screen passes that were blown up at the line, an absurd lateral play on a kick return late in the game that cost them a shot at the endzone on the final drive. All that 5D chess nonsense that usually worked under past regimes is costing them in arguably the most important game of the season.

Not only did this win secure a 3rd straight Causeway victory, an undefeated regular season, another BSC title, and a 2-seed in the playoffs; but most importantly it ended the season of their self proclaimed “best team in program history” and squashed what small playoff hopes they had going into Selection Sunday. Now they have all offseason to reckon with the fact that this Hornet program is far superior to theirs by every metric measurable and question what they can possibly do to come close to matching the level of success the Hornets are currently enjoying. They also have to face the realization that they may never win another Causeway so long as Coach Taylor is on our sideline.

Well, a day after the selection, I have not come across any posts anywhere from anyone making the argument for why that Montana deserved to be in the playoffs but there are many comments from people, including Montana fans, who can't believe they got in. There are also quite a few who believe that neither the Ags or Montana should have been selected but just as many or more that think the Aggies should be in. So, bottom line, the overwhelming feeling is that Montana should not have been selected and there appears to be about a 70-30 split of those who think the Ags should have been selected.

I really feel for the Aggie players and the coaching staff. They gave it all they had this season against a brutal schedule and didn't get rewarded for it. Seeing Montana get in ahead of them must be heartbreaking....tough way to end the season.

I fallowed UC Davis after the SdSU game. I had a feeling they were going to beat Idaho. Then i found myself hoping they would beat SAC state. As an SDSU fan i respected Davis and felt they deserved a spot after a great year and tough schedule. Sports builds character.

As a Sac State fan, I usually relish beating our rivals UC Davis in the Causeway Classic. But this year we ruined their playoff chances by tagging them with that fifth loss... and for me that's a little bittersweet because this year's Aggies were a solid football team. Their only really bad losses were to Cal and Montana State. They played Weber close (let them only score 17), they killed Idaho, and they lost to us and SDSU - yes, the top two playoff seeds - by a combined 8 points between the two games. I could've seen UCD doing some damage had they gotten in.

Griz fan, but for the life of me can't figure how they made the playoffs with the drubbing they took yesterday. Not a Bobby Hauck fan, never seen anyone who can pull defeat out of victory like he can. And yes Montana State got screwed. Just sayin.
Oh, the Griz don't deserve to be there, and this isn't popular, but Hauck needs to go!!!![

Where it surely got dicey for the selection committee was determining the final two at-large teams from about 10 candidates that all had flaws on their regular-season resumes. In the end, two playoff staples won out: Montana (7-4), which doesn’t have a signature win and was blown out by rival Montana State 55-21 on Saturday, earning a record 26th bid...

We had a signature win over Idaho in their house and didn't get blown out by anyone despite the tough schedule. Oh, and Idaho beat Montana in Missoula...

I actually like playing up versus playing against teams you are "expected" to beat. Those tough games create more excitement for us fans and can certainly boost our stature if we win but, as we've seen this year, it can hurt you if you lose too many of them. They're probably not the best choice to make in regards to potential injuries also.

It looks like we've settled into Southern Utah, Texas A&M Commerce and Utah Tech (former Dixie State) for the next few years plus an FBS "money" game. No SDSU or NDSU in the near future on the regular schedule.
