Yeah...Ags are out of sync and can't get anything to fall.

Thanks for the recaps guys. I hate listening on the radio...to damn nerve wracking when I can't actually see what is taking place. Hope we can get it going and put this one in the W column!

For those of you watching what are your thoughts from what you've seen? From listening to the radio it sounded like it was ugly early and then we squandered an 11 point lead when our defense broke down and the offense went cold.

When the Ags defense breaks down the offense usually goes sour too. Time for Les to get their attention and focus back.

The oddsmakers have the Ags as 5.5 point underdogs going into the game with Weber State.

Pull the upset Ags!!

Bad news: Garrison Goode is out for the entire tournament. Our other big guys will need to step up.

I've actually done that before, 6th, just to get a sports package for a couple of months to see a few games. Unfortunately, I have Consolidated Communications (formerly Surewest), and it doesn't carry CBSSN. So I'll be listening on the radio and checking in on live stats.

Haha...somehow I don't think Mrs 6th would love going from the warm and cozy confines of Davis to cold, often dreary and "rough around the edges" Alaska. I spent a year an half up there long ago while in the service and traveled there for 3 weeks this summer. The wilderness their is still jaw-dropping beautiful but climate change is wreaking havoc on the glaciers and the tundra. Go soon while it still lasts.

The link below is to a very interesting article about how the future of The Great Alaska Shootout is on very thin ice (pun intended ;) . It's really unfortunate that this 39 year old, once premier tournament that annually drew the best college basketball teams to Anchorage, can no longer compete with the bigger money tournaments.

It does sound like they are pulling out all the stops they can to try keep the tournament alive with all sorts of activities and events for the fans to take part in. If you were part of a group of fans making the trip you could have a ton of fun including lots of food, beer, giveaways, basketball shooting contests (with 4 Dodge Ram trucks as prizes! :-O ), music, games or even ride a bucking salmon! :D . The big power programs follow the money. Too bad for college basketball fans in Alaska.

Yikes, that would take the wind out of Oakland's sails! :-O

We'll have our hands full with the Wildcats. They have been getting into post-season tournaments with regularity and are perennially the best or one of the best in the Big Sky Conference. The Big Sky is not as strong as the Big West in basketball so that's helps them pile up wins and get into post-season play easier than if played in a better conference. That said, they would probably be able to compete pretty well with the better Big West teams.

They will have a small size advantage over the Ags but they are not a huge team so I hope we will be able to compete well inside and on the boards. Moneke, White, Adenrele and Henn will need to play well on the defensive boards especially if Garrison Goode is still out with an ankle or foot injury.

As usual, our defensive intensity will be the key to winning the game. When our defense is playing well it ignites our offense.

Wednesday games results:

Buffalo 85 Alaska Anchorage 79 - The Bulls got 36 points and 8 rebounds from guard Blake Hamilton and move on to the semifinals.

Nevada 82 Oakland 78 - The Wolf Pack came back from 16 down at halftime, the largest halftime deficit comeback in the 39 year history of the Shootout, to beat the Golden Grizzlies.

I'm thinking you're crafty from previous experience!! 8-)

Your right, 6th, we got the benefit of the draw in this tournament. Oakland and Nevada are both tough and either would be a tough matchup for the Ags. We'll definitely be challenged in this tournament. I don't get CBSSN darn it!

Tennessee State was the best team in Santa Clara and we played them tough. They are now 4-0 and ranked #20 in the first mid-major poll. The Ags got 1 vote...maybe Coach Les was feeling a little biased...
