  • MBB: Long Beach State vs. UC Davis, Friday and Saturday, 4 pm
Does anyone know if it's possible to edit the topic line for a discussion post? Clearly what I wrote before has changed and I don't want it to mislead any fans who might rely on this site for the game time.

Friday funk continues. What do I call a game with 33 combined turnovers and about 50% foul shooting by both teams? Ugly. Did anyone notice that the Ags were getting a lot of perimeter shots blocked? That's gotta give Coach Les a headache. Still, it was an exciting game and a win is a win.

Figures. My ESPN feed has gone all haywire.

Did anyone catch what happened to the Beach's Isaiah Washington? Is he hurt, on COVID quarantine?

ESPN states that the game is on ESPN3 but I can't find it. Finally got the BigWestTV stream in time to see LBSU score 5 points.

BigWestTV has the broadcast starting at 1:30. Who's in charge around here?

Thanks, DrMike. I wonder why they changed the time? Did you get the email from the UCD Athletic Department?

Yes, that new bridge is not very steady, especially around the volcanoes. Not such tiny bubbles.

I wonder why the team does so much better on the second day of a Big West series? Is it due to still being rusty from the long layoff? Any ideas?

Uh-oh, 49-42 with 12 minutes left. Ags continuing to turn the ball over.

Aggies up 36-17 at the half. I don't know it I've ever seen a team play better than the Aggies did in the first 12 minutes of the game. They even held the Matadors to 57.1% shooting from the foul line. : ) I'm a little concerned that they got a bit sloppy after that, but we'll see how they come out in the second stanza.

I do not find Herenda's sesquipadelian utterances to be incommodious or egregiously inappropriate even for an athletic recontre.:nerd:

This is shaping up to be the most heart breaking season it has ever been my misfortune to witness. Not just the cancellations, but the way the kids lose. I'm betting (hoping) they come back and win handily tomorrow. The big problems today were 3 point shooting (18.8%) and turnovers a lot of them unforced on sloppy passing. I note that Fuller's 30 points today came on 2 point FGs and 15 points worth of free throws.

Aggies down 4 at the half, but they can play a lot better in every category. Too many turnovers, not enough assists, need better shooting and to hit the boards harder. Defense is just okay. This game is totally within reach as long as they get their act together.

Thanks, BlueGoldAg. This is a good story. I had no idea that the team was not allowed to fly to San Diego. The guys really pull it together to get one win and the article neglected to mention that it doesn't even count in the conference standings.

I heard on one of the broadcasts that in order to qualify for the NCAA tournament this year, a school has to play in 13 games. Does anyone know what counts toward that number? UCD will have played in 16 total assuming no more get cancelled. Two are against UCSD which is not a full conference member yet and one was against William Jessup, an NAIA (?) school. If those games don't count the Aggies can't afford to lose a single game to cancellation. If they--or any other Big West team--does not qualify, would they still be in the conference tournament? I can't imagine they wouldn't be, but I guess if they win it, the team they beat would go to the NCAAs, which sucks. I know that the odds are against such a scenario but I thought it would be worth raising the questions.

I should have noted a second game the next day broadcast on Big West TV. Game time is 2:00 PST, that's noon for all Hawaii fans.

Can't help mentioning that Koehler also committed a bad foul on a breakaway that gave UCSB 5 points on two made free throws and a triple. Oddly, he started the game off helping the Ags build a good lead by going 3 for 3 beyond the arc. I wonder why he didn't keep shooting. Question: Do any of you have your photo in those seats set up in the Pavilion? Wonder how one gets to be there?

I'm just glad I'm on blood pressure medication cause games like this are not good for me. The Ags deserved to win it, but I have to think they are still not at 100% of mid-season form, especially Manjon who made a solid effort in the second half and OT, finishing 6/11 after a slow start. So, UCD is now 0-3 officially in the Big West and are certainly not a last place team.
