I don't believe it. Jackrabbits very lucky.

Next time they get a good pass completion, they need to try a draw play to Gilliam.

I've been pretty impressed with the South Dakota commentators. They know football and are not showing too much bias. I imagine that between SDSU and USD the fans of South Dakota look at them as their main athletic attraction, so the media gives them a high level of broadcast. My neighbor is from South Dakota, though, and he roots for the Minnesota pro teams. Hawaii is much the same with the only game in town being the University of Hawaii.

South Dakota State's O-line is starting to take control. They were moving the Aggie D-line without a whole lot of difficulty.

Answering my own question: 2008. I don't know why I thought they had been in the Big Sky recently.

When did the Jackrabbits move to the MVC?

Ags offense gained only a net 41 yards in the first quarter.

Yeah, Hastings totally missed spotting that linebacker. Poor decision.

Thanks for posting these videos. I like the way the young men handle an interview after a loss. I'm sure I lacked such poise at their age. I'm glad that a videographer finally added captions so you can hear the question being asked. Haven't even seen that at the NFL level.

Pre-covid, I used to get tickets to see the Aggies play in Hawaii. There is a visitor's section in the arena and I ask the ticket office if I can get a seat there. It's always "no." but for different reasons. Once I was told it was sold out. Next I was told that only special guests are allowed there. Do any of you have any connection to the UC Davis Athletic program to see if an old alum can get a "special guest" designation?

Hard to judge how good Cal is from this game, but they look a lot better than the 9th place team in the Pac-12. I hope they are for that would mean that the Aggies are better than they seemed today. I thought Hastings made some good throws, but he was under a lot of pressure from the Cal D-line. His two interceptions were his major failing. Those interceptions were a huge difference along with the near interception by King. Turn those three plays around and the final score is 27-20. Plus I think Hawkins erred in going for a first down when he had an almost automatic 3 points at Cal's 9 in the first quarter. Cal picked up a lot of momentum after they held on 4th and 1.

Ags got off to a good start, but commentators pointed out that their edge in experience helped them get the lead. Cal's got too much talent, especially that freshman running back, Ott, who was a one man wrecking crew for the Bears once he got into the game. Ags need to figure out how to contain him to have a chance.
  • Week 1: UC Davis (0-0) @ Cal (0-0)
I grew up a big Cal fan, since both my parents attended UC Berkeley and my father got his MA there and took me to some of the games. In fact, I got to see the 1958 Rose Bowl team lose to Pacific when Dick Bass ran all over the Bear defense. When the Aggies play them, I feel very torn, but as a loyal UCD alum, I have to root for the Ags. Only time I ever root against the Golden Bears. Ags had a real shot at an upset in 2019 but I don't see it happening this year.

Same old story. I remember when I thought that Corey Hawkins was a cinch to make it in the NBA and I heard commentators last season practically guaranteeing that Daniel Whelan would be drafted. There is stigma attached to the lower level conferences, even with the likes of Cooper Kupp and Trey Lance making it in the NFL or Pascal Siakim and Alan Williams in the NBA.

ESPN does not list the UC Davis - Cal game as being on the PAC-12 network. Has anyone heard anything about that broadcast?
